ブルガリアといえば、日本では「ヨーグルト」が連想されますが（「相撲とり」も？）、この国、かなり治安が悪いのです。首都ソフィアの中央駅はかなり悪名高く、元同僚が嘆いておりました。ご注意を。

バンコックの新型インフルエンザ国際会議

２３～２５日、バンコックにて新型インフルエンザ国際会議 Bangkok International Conference on Avian Influenza 2008が開催。
面白い知見も発表されているので、つまみ食いしながら紹介してゆきます。

ザル状態の国境から流入とまらぬ鳥インフルエンザH5N1（インド 西ベンガル）

インド西ベンガルの鳥インフルエンザH5N1続報。 インド西ベンガルで発生している原因のひとつに、隣国バングラデッシュからの鶏の流入があります。隣国から、当局の把握しきれない鶏が"unofficial free trade(直訳すれば非公式自由貿易ですが、「密輸」「アングラ貿易」あたりが適訳か）"で流れ込んできます。国境地帯の地形は複雑でとても把握しきれるものではなく、当局が「H5N1の鶏は入れるなっ！」と絶叫しても”たくましき民”はあっけらかんと持ってきてしまう・・・背筋が寒くなる現実があるようです。 ここらへん、アフリカのジャングルと共通した事情みたいです。私が西アフリカのガボン共和国の精神科病院を視察したとき、院長は薬物依存に手を焼いている話をしてくれました。ガボン当局が取り締まっても、隣国との国境はジャングルばかりにて、藪を掻き分け取引されたらお手上げだとか。 頭を抱えるばかりです。 ソースは21日付NDTV　一部ペースト、全文は http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/story.aspx?id=NEWEN20080039138 This has always been a porous boundary that sees a lot of unofficial free trade. インドもエジプト同様のハードルが・・・（鳥インフルエンザH5N1)

鳥インフルエンザに見舞われているインド、ここでもエジプト同様の「民度の壁」にぶつかっているようです。
　周辺住民は、平気で死んだ鶏を食べ、なんら防御処置をほどこすことなく平気で病死した鶏を持ち歩いている・・・
H5N1に関する知識を持ち合わせていないこと、無知がハードルであると嘆かれています。

隣のバングラデッシュでも、また、インドのダージリンといった我々にもよく知られた地名も登場してきています。

West Bengal animal resources minister Anisur Rahaman told AFP the situation in the affected areas was "horrible", and that more suspect cases had been reported on the state's borders with Nepal and Bangladesh.

"The ignorance of villagers is one of the main hurdles. They are carrying the dead chickens without any protective gear," he said.

"Most villagers are not aware of the disease. They are eating the dead chickens. Their children are playing with the infected chickens in the courtyards. It's horrible," Rahaman added.

内容は膨大なのでぼつぼつ、ちょっとづつ紹介してゆきましょう。

鳥インフルエンザで今流行しているのはH5N1型ウイルスですが、もうちょっと細かく分類されます。Clade分類です。
最初にヒト感染が確認されたのが1997年香港で、その時のH5N1ウイルスをclade０といいます。今のところ、clade０から９まであります。

clade１　０４年～０５年のベトナム・カンボジア・タイでの流行
clade２．１　　現在インドネシアで猛威をふるっているもの
clade２．２　　現在ユーラシア大陸とアフリカで流行っているもの

現在まででヒト感染を起こしているのがclade　０、１、２．１、２．２、２．３の５タイプ。

今後の推移でもっと増えてゆくのでしょうが、どうなるのか成り行きが注目されます

イランの鳥インフルエンザH5N1確定

イラン・デイリーから続報。

イランの鳥インフルエンザ、H5N1確定です。
ガチョウ・アヒル・家禽に検出。
検体はイタリアの検査機関に運ばれて検査されました。

オヤ？と思ったのは最後の２行。
インドネシアとイランでワクチンの共同生産が行われるとか・・・

こういうものは途上国の方がどんどん作れて手に入る（日本のようにウルサ型の厚労省がアレコレ言わない）ので案外有利かもしれません。

Bird Flu Cases Detected

State Veterinary Organization has announced that migratory and indigenous birds have tested positive for H5N1 bird flu virus.
“Avian flu, earlier reported for migratory swans in the Anzali International Wetland in northern Iran, has been detected among geese, ducks and domestic hens in Barzanghib village near the wetland,“ the Organization’s chief, Mojtaba Norouzi told ISNA Friday.
“Laboratory tests in Italy confirmed that Iran’s wild and native birds had been infected by the H5N1 bird flu virus.“
The Organization culled domestic birds of the village to prevent the outbreak of the deadly virus in the vicinity of the wetland, he said, urging locals to avoid hunting.
H5N1 is the bird flu strain that scientists worry could mutate into a form easily passed to humans.
With thousands of migratory geese, ducks and other wildfowl heading for the province for the winter, local authorities are on high alert, he said.
The official had earlier told the news agency that the organization destroys any poultry in places where birds have been detected with suspicious respiratory diseases.
Iran had officially announced an outbreak of bird flu among migratory birds in late 2005.
It was reported last week that Indonesia and Iran reached a tentative deal to co-produce bird flu vaccines.
