お水とり　明日から

「お水とり」が、奈良・東大寺二月堂で始まる。
陰暦２月に修する法会として「（しゅにえ）修二会」ともいわれ、現在は太陽暦の３月１日から３月１４日まで。
11人の僧侶による、毎年欠かさず続く今年は1260年目の水と火の修行。
「天下泰安、風雨順時、万民幸福」との、今の我々の願いとともに、春が来る。

Shuni-e, meaning ceremony of the second month, is a series of Buddhist rituals in which priests pray to repent for the sins of the profane world to the goddess Kannon, who is enshrined in Nigatsudo Hall, a sub complex of Todaiji Temple in Nara. These rituals, annually held between March 1-14, go back more than 1,000 years. (Japan Times)

日ごろから　足元を固めて　！

地震国でありながら、耐震対策が国内の他都市に比べ遅れていたとも言われるニュージランド・クライストチャーチ。 自信満々でスタートした菅・民主党政権。 ともに多くの人を寄せ付ける魅力はあったが、内側に入れば、足元も構造も、案外もろかったのかも、、、。 それにしても、こんな時に辞表を出さなくてもいいのに。 いやいや、ともに再生を期待しよう。 　　　　　　　　　　　　　　農水政務官辞表 Ozawa ally quits farm post, fanning fears of DPJ meltdown A Democratic Party of Japan lawmaker close to Ichiro Ozawa tendered his resignation Thursday as parliamentary secretary of the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ministry, adding to Prime Minister Naoto Kan's woes. 日本人犠牲者　生存は？

救出が続くニュージランド・クライストチャーチの地震。 今なお、100人以上もの人が倒壊したビルの中に閉じ込められているという。 いち早く、現地で救出や捜索にとりかかる日本人を、現地メデｨアが伝える。 同国最大の惨事といわれるが、看護学生や語学研修生という若い日本人の犠牲者が多いというのも悲惨。 地震直後の現地 Earthquake: Body removed from CTV building A large team of Japanese searchers earlier entered the site with dogs and several bodies have now been carried out of the rubble in body bags./ A group of 24 Japanese tourists are believed to have died in the rubble. ２月２３日は、「富士山の日」

梅一輪ほどの　あたたかさ

各地の「梅だより」が、テレビや新聞で春の到来を告げる。 温かくなって咲き、短期間で一気に咲く桜もいいが、寒さの中で芽をふくらませ、より長く咲き続ける梅もいい。 別名を「春告草（はるつげくさ）」ともいうらしい。 「桜伐（き）る馬鹿、梅伐らぬ馬鹿」ともいい、管理には知恵もいる。 我が家の紅梅も、蝋梅（ロウバイ）に続いて「梅一輪、一輪ほどの温かさ」を見せはじめた。 Plum-viewing season marks start of spring With freezing weather hopefully a thing of the past, it's easier to plan outings now — and viewing plum blossoms are a great way to get in the mood for spring./ Now's the time to get a peek into a traditional pastime that has a history going back to the Nara Period (710-794). 花粉症も　国のセイ　？

天気予報より、花粉情報が気になる季節。 暖房用の木材が石油に代わり、戦後は、家屋用の木材として杉やヒノキが国策として植林された。 しかし、外国産木材にとって代わられ、伐採も用途も減少し、伸び放題。 おまけに、昨年の猛暑が「花粉を倍増生産」。 東京都や国は、今後花粉が少ない木や、「生物多様性」に対応する植樹を始める。 でも、そんな木が大きくなるのに、何年かかる？ Japan's ecological catastrophe Before World War II, Japanese homes used charcoal for heating but switched to oil after the war and demand for trees associated with charcoal production steeply declined.
