突然の訃報 (Sudden bad news)

一応念のため言っておきますが、我が家族・親戚のことではありません。

僕は詳しくは知らないのですが、今、フォンティに通っているMBA学生のうち、
１人の方がプールでの事故で昨日お亡くなりになったようです。
私的には存じ上げない方なのであまりショックはないのですが、
やはり比較的身近で起きた出来事なので、少しは考えずにはいられません。

Inseadの仏キャンパスは車で通っている学生も多く、
少し前に飲酒運転で事故死した方もおられるそうなので、
フォンティ開始の学生は、飲酒運転禁止キャンペーンのポスター作りなどもやっています。
僕も更に気を引き締めていこうと考えているところです。

今日は正午に黙祷がささげられ、その後も亡くなった方の写真を集めたり、
名前を冠した奨学金の設立を訴えたりといった活動が行われています。
こういった精神はあまり日本では（少なくとも個人的には）見受けられなかったので、
見習わないといけないなぁと感じているところです。

亡くなった方のご冥福をお祈りします。

This is not about my family and relatives.

Although I do not know the details, but it seems that one of the participants
here at Insead Fontainebleay campus passed away due to the accident in a pool.
As I do not know him personally, I'm not so shocked;
but I cannot help thinking of this as it happend around me...

There are a lot of people who commute to Insead by car,
and we all like drinking at friend's house, school, restaurants and so on.
Some time ago, there were some people who passed away with car accidents
after drinking...
Therefore, we have a campaign to make posters
to discourage people to drive after drinking.
Now that I heard this tragic news, I'm now thinking it again...

We had a silent prayer at noon today and some students volunteered to
collect pictures and videos of him to keep his memory in our mind.
Others seem to suggest to build a scholarship in the name of him.
These kinds of activities are not so popular in Japan as far as I know.
I felt that we should learn these considerations even in Japan...

I pay my last respects...
