庭にパパイヤの木が芽を出したのがおよそ6か月前です
とくに種を撒いたわけではありませんが、どこからか運んでこられいつの間にか芽を出して葉の形がパパイヤに似ていたのでそのまま放置していました
それが立派に成長してすでに2.5mぐらいの高さになっています
10日ほど前に花が咲き、今日気が付いたらいくつも実をつけていて鈴生り状態です
この調子だと帰国前に収穫できるかもしれません
完熟したパパイヤは果物としてどこでも人気がありますが、熟す前の青いうちに収穫して身を細く切って、キンピラにするとか、サラダの具材にもできます
ほのかな甘味としっかりした食感があり、産地以外では体験できないものです
熱帯の太陽と豊富な雨量がもたらす驚異的な成長速度には感心させられます
The papaya had sprouted out about 6 months ago in my garden.
I didn’t plant any seeds but probably it was brought from somewhere and sprouted.
When I realized it the leaves looked like a papaya and I left it.
It has grown up and already about 2.5m tall.
About 10 days ago it had bloomed and today I found a lot of fruits on it.
It will be expected to harvest before I go back to Japan.
The ripe papaya is a popular fruit in everywhere but harvesting before ripe and use for the salad or fried vegetables with cutting in like a noodle.
We can experience slight sweetness and crunchy feeling only in growing area.
The tropical sunshine and a rich rain brings the unbelievable growing speed.
