今週の火曜日にCSSD（中央材料滅菌室）のオートクレーブが故障ということで、ダグラスが点検したところ、高圧蒸気を遮断するソレノイドバルブが焼損していることがわかりました
彼はすぐに部品を交換すると言いますが、ちょっと待てと言いました
この器械は昨年の9月に導入したもので、まだ半年しか使っていません
その器械の部品が焼損するということは、何か原因があって起こったことで、ただ部品を交換すればまた同じことが起こる可能性があります
そこで台湾の製造元へメールで状況報告して、原因についての製造元の見解を問い合わせました
先方からはさらに詳細な使用環境と写真の要求があり、今日データを揃えて送りました
医療機器に限らず、予期せぬ早期の重大トラブルは必ず原因があります
もちろん部品の偶発的故障もありますが、それを追求せずに対症的療法で解決すると、再発の可能性があるということを、技師たちに解ってもらいたくて少しきついことを言ってしまいました
彼らにエンジニアとしての論理的な考え方を学習してもらうのも私の重要な仕事の一つだと考えています
On Tuesday this week the autoclave of the CSSD (Central Sterilize Supply Department) had broken and our Douglass had checked it.
He found that the coil of the solenoid valve for the high pressure steam shutter had burnt.
He said that he will change the solenoid valve soon but I stopped it.
This autoclave was installed on September last year means it was used only six months.
The part of this equipment had burnt it suspects there is something unexpected reason.
If we just change the burned part possibly it will happen again.
Then I sent the enquiry mail to the manufacturer in Taiwan about the possible reason of the problem with detailed report and the picture.
They replied soon and requested further details of the using circumstance and pictures.
I sent requested data today.
Not only medical equipment but also any other equipment unexpected serious problem in the early phase usually has the special reason.
Of course sometimes it will be due to the accidental failure of the parts but to fix it without researching the reason it may repeat again possibly.
I wanted that they could realize it and I said with a little sharp tong.
I believe that I should lead them to understand the logical thinking as an engineer must be one of my important job.
