Cell Phone

2005-05-29 | Weblog
Finally I got a cell phone. I had used a line phone in the dorm and I was using my boyfriend's cell phone after moving out. So I am pretty happy! I had a contract at a cell phone shop a few days ago, however, I cancelled it because they gave me a free cell phone which was big, outdated and looked like a cell of 50 years ago. Then, I went to a different shop and got a free cell phone and this has camera, flip, color screen... It was much better than the other one.
I think the most common cell phone plan is 1000 mins call and free weekends and free after 9pm on weekdays for $39.99. Sending text message is more expensive and calling is much cheaper compared with Japanese common plans. Another difference is that not only a caller but also a receiver will be charged. Well, either way, it is hard to call beyond 1000mins per month.

Battleship Museum (May 15)

Today I went to the Battleship Museum in New Jersey by bike and ship. It was located just across the river from Pennsylvanian side. The museum was the huge battleship itself (U.S.S. New Jersey) and I could see and touch the real turret (kaitenshiki houtou) and inside of the ship. It worked in WW2, Korean War, Vietnam War, and 1980's Cold War. Although I was not very excited in the battleship before I saw, it was worth seeing.

Moving (May 14)

Today I moved out from the dorm to the house of off campus. Since the new house was 4 blocks north and three blocks west, I used taxi once and bike (several laps). Although I lived in the dorm for less than 9 months, I had a lot of stuffs in my room... I am going to move in September again, and use a car at that time.

I went to NY with my friends. We went to see the statue of liberty, ate raamen and Yoshigyuu (a beef bowl at Yoshinoya), bought a book at Kinokuniya bookstore and cream puffs at papa beard in a Japanese cafe, and got a couple of free Japanese paper. Everything was wonderful, in particular the taste of raamen was fantastic!

Feria de Sevilla en Philadelphia

Sevilla is a famous place for flamenco in Spain. In Sevilla a famous event "Feria de Abril" takes place every year. "Feria de Sevilla en Philadelphia" is a Philadelphian version of the event. It had flamenco shows, workshops, and food. I saw the shows two nights in a row. I really liked them. I am thinking to start learning flamenco in Philadelphia.

The remote controle and machine of Karaoke were all written in Korean! So Korean friend helped a lot. There were songs in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese and Indonesian. We had a good time singing Japanese and Chinese songs!

BuddaKan

The other day I went to a Asian fusion restaurant, BuddaKan. There was a big Budda in the restaurant. The Budda looked very funny because he had a very skinny face. Since the food were fusion and creative, the sushi I ordered came with chili and mustard on the plate!
Of course, I did not put them on the sushi.
