折畳自転車 Dahon Curve SL で巡礼サイクリング

　小径折畳自転車　Dahon Curve SL　と公共交通機関を組み合わせた知多四国巡礼サイクリングの記事を連載します。小径車ですから長距離は走られませんが走りたくないところはバスや電車ですっ飛ばします。
　これまでのサイクリングはロードバイクを車に載せて移動し、１日に100kmくらいを走り回る忙しいサイクリングでした。それはそれで楽しいものですがもっと優雅な旅をしてみたくサイクリングガイドブツクにもなるような新しい企画を立ち上げてみます。
　完成するまでどれくらいかかるか分かりませんが「乞うご期待」です。

　さて、ここで登場しますのが折畳自転車　Dahon Curve SL　です。これは良くできた自転車でとりわけ　Curve　シリーズは弧を描くフレームに特徴があり、メーカーはこのことを　"curvy and sexy"　と表現しています。

　折畳む前と畳んだ状態です。これに埃よけのようなカバーをかけると電車やバスに載せて移動できます。勿論無料です。
　仕様を次に示しますが、変速機はハブ内蔵型の５速です。同じシリーズの D3 モデルは３速ですがそれでも十分です。ペダルはワンタッチ工具なしで取り外せます。 D3 モデルはシートポストにポンプが内蔵されていて便利です。私が乗っているものは車輪の泥除けなどが無いのでさらにシンプルです。
　特筆すべきは、この自転車にはシマノの部品が使われていません。珍しいですね。

　Dahon Curve SL の妹 Dahon Curve D3 が主治医の所にいよいよ納車。楽しいね。

　仕様はCurve SLとほとんど同じですが変速機が３段…町乗りには十分です。
　色はフアイアーレッドです。これ…目立つよ。

際立った特徴は以下の通り。
　アルミフレームの中で強度の高い7005アルミのバテッド加工された物を使い、見た目がオシャレなだけではなく、シュワルベビッグアップルと言う幅約50mmのスリックタイヤを取付けて乗り心地を良くしています。ギヤもスターメイアーチャーの内装３段変速が取付けされますからママチャリ並には走る事が出来ます。


　シートポストと言うサドルの下のパイプが BioLogic Zorin PostPump と言う空気入れになっています。輸入自転車の空気を入れる所は仏式と言って日本のママチャリとは異なります。輸入車を買うと空気入れも買わなきゃならないという不便さを解消しています。また、ポンプの携帯は結構めんどくさいので、Dahon Curve D3は親切です。

　ついでにバルブの種類について説明します。
　ママチャリは殆ど英式バルブ(ウッズバルブ)と言う種類の空気入れ口が使われていますから皆さんのご家庭に一つくらいは洗濯バサミのような物が先にくっついたポンプをお持ちかと思います。
　２～３万円のスポーツ車にも殆ど英式バルブが使用されています。
　ただ、高額のスポーツ車は仏式バルブ（フレンチバルブ）や米式バルブ（シュレッダーバルブ）が使用されている事が多い為、ママチャリ用の空気入れでは空気を入れることが出来ませんので専用のポンプや米、英、仏対応と言うポンプを新たに購入して頂くようになります。
　米式バルブは自動車やオートバイと全く同じですからご自宅で自動車に入れられるポンプをお持ちでしたらわざわざ自転車用として購入する必要はありませんが、一番厄介なのが仏式バルブです。(最近は殆どこれが付いています)　比較的空気が抜けやすく、専用のポンプが無いと空気を入れる事ができません。
　しかも、スポーツ車を全く扱っていない自転車屋さんでは 「それに入れる空気入れは持ってないよ」とあっさり断られてしまったと言う例が今まで何件かあり、スポーツ車の場合は空気圧管理も大切ですから、是非自転車と一緒に空気圧ゲージ付きのポンプを一つ用意して頂いた方が宜しいかと思います。

　16インチはさほど仕入れる予定がなかったのですがこのモデルは16インチにしてもっとも実用的で傑作と思いすでに初回発注はしております。軽量かつデザインに優れ16インチですが内装3段のためシンプル（ローメンテナンス）で走行性もペダルひと回転あたり6m50㎝と優れます。スタンドも標準装備です。

　折りたたんでみました。


　こんなおもちゃみたいなもの買ってどうするのと言いたいでしょう。軽いんです。10kgをきります。9.9kgです。さらに泥除けなど不要なものを外しますからもっと軽くなるでしょう。いつもは車で自転車を運んでサイクリングに行きますがスタートとゴールが同じ場所という制約があります。電車でサイクリングに行くときロードバイクを輪行袋に入れて運ぶことも出来ますが大きすぎます。小さくて高性能ということでこれに決めました。「3月末入荷予定ですので入荷し完成次第連絡いたします。」という連絡が若旦那からありました。

Double-Butted 7005 Aluminum
7005 aluminum is an aerospace grade aluminum that is 5-10% stronger than 6061 aluminum by most measures. Double-butted tubes are specially drawn so that they are thicker at the ends of the tubes, where they are welded and stresses are highest, and thinner in the middle to minimize weight. The process of drawing and butting tubes also work hardens the aluminum. Work hardening is a restructuring of the material at the molecular level when the material is heated to a specific range, for a specific length of time, and stressed to a specific degree. Work hardening increases the strength of 7005 aluminum by roughly 20%. Double butted 7005 tubes therefore, are significantly stronger than equivalent weight plain gauge 7005 or 6061 tubes. Double butted tubing allows frame designers to build strong, but exceptionally light frames.

　自転車が入荷したよ。自分が乗る前に主治医が少し試乗・いたく気に入ったようでした。
　さて、本日愛知池で15ｋほど走ってみた。5速にするとカセット〔変速機〕に少し異音がでるが走りは快適。車体全体の剛性が低いのでハンドルは体重をかけないように乗るのがこつ。
　一緒に走った友達のロードサイクル・ビアンキにはとても勝てないがそれなりに走る。20キロくらいは簡単に出るのであなどれない。今日はこのビアンキもショップから貰ってきたばかりのオニュー…良く走っていた。
　写真は携帯のカメラで撮ったので良くは見えないが小さいのに本当に優れものでした。これからが楽しみ。
