NZ から旅程が届いた。
今回のサイクリングはクライストチャーチからクイーンズタウンまで 530km である。
私は着々と練習を重ねているが相方の浜ちゃんはどうしているか心配である。

Arrive Christchurch
Arrive Christchurch for airport pickup by Trevor & Adrienne, your hosts at A’ Portico Gardens Homestay [checkin from 2pm with free airport if required].
Accommodation is at A ‘Portico Gardens Homestay
At 3pm we will come out to you with the bikes and equipment and discuss your tour itinerary at A Portico Gardens Homestay.
Note :- An evening meal is available at A’ Portico Gardens by prior arrangement [$35NZD per person payable to your hosts].
クライストチャーチからメスベンまで国道77号を西に向かいます。
このあたりでは北に見えるニュージランド南アルプスには雪はありません。
きつい一日になりそうだ。1日で400m登る。だらだらと90kmも登りだけである。
厳密には途中、175mのピーク越えもあるので少しは下りもある。

Today is a demanding days cycling with a gradual gain of altitude of 400m[1300ft] over the day, including a steep climb of 175m[600ft] at Rakaia Gorge.

メスベンからジェラルディーンまで南下します。
楽な1日になりそうだ。1日で300mも下る。

A gentle days cycling, with a loss of altitude of 300m[1000ft] over the day and a principally flat ride.

ジェラルディーンからテカポ湖まで国道78,8号を経由して峠を２つ越えるタフなサイクリングになります。
写真でも分かるように南アルプスの端を走ります。
厳しい1日になりそうだ。300-400mのピークを2回登り、1日で600mの登りである。

今日は1日休息である。朝からワインでも飲みながら洗濯の予定。
テカポ湖からオマラマまで右手に雪を頂いた南アルプスを見ながら難局に向かって走ります。
氷河から流れる運河を見ながら楽な1日になりそう。
晩御飯はB&Bで摂ることにする。食事を出すとホームページに書いてあるB&Bの食事は基本的に美味しい。
値段は$40-45だから3000円くらいである。鹿の肉でも食べようかな。venison【名】鹿の肉

Tekapo to Omarama [90km/ 55miles].
A reasonably gentle day’s cycle, heading along the canals and glacier feed Southern Lakes of the McKenzie Basin. Your route takes you over several smaller hills of 100-200m over the day, but it’s an overall gradual descent to you destination of Omarama.
Accommodation is at Omarama Station,

Meals can be provided at a cost of $40-45 and need to be prebooked at least 24hours prior to arrival.
オマラマからクロムウェルへ途中峠を越すタフなサイクリング。
32km先のLindis Pass [990m] を過ぎれば後は平らな道になる。
ただ最後に200mの登りがある。これは110km走っての最後が登りだからきついでしよう。

Cycle to Cromwell (110km) Once again a gradual climb to start at you head south before the big climb over Lindis Pass [990m]—32km into the day. From Lindis Pass it’s a sharp descent and then a flat ride to the Cluden Hill for a sharp, but brief 200m climb. From the Cluden Hill it’s a principally flat ride to Cromwell.

距離は短いが700m登るかなりきつい1日になりそう。

Today’s cycle is a very demanding 70km/40miles to Queenstown, with an almost continuous climb of 700m /2200feet to the top of the Crown Range, before a steep descent and then an undulating ride to Queenstown.
