2011年に"Levels "で新鋭的なサウンドを見せつけ、多くのヒット曲を生み出したスウェーデン出身のDJ Avicii。10代でその才能を見出された彼は28歳という若さでこの世を去りました。

ご存知の通り、私もうずっと長いこと、あらゆるジャンルの音楽を聴き続けています。”音楽作品の中に潜り込む”のは、もう私の人生の一部ですから。
彼の楽曲はジャンルでいうと”EDM”とか”エレクトロクラブミュージック”になるんですが、表面的なサウンドではやっぱり彼の思想や彼自身を読み取るのは難しいと思うのです。
私の音楽の聴き方(一般的に言うと)は、ただ聴いて共感するだけでは物足りません。
サウンド、言葉はもちろん構成や使用している楽器、機材、過去作品からの流れや時に全ての作品を俯瞰的にみて、アーティストの思想や哲学を読み取ります。
彼の作品はいわゆるイケイケサウンドではない。
Wake me upでも葛藤と苦悩を唄っているし、彼はいつでも迷っていたんだと思います。
だから冒頭の言葉になるわけです。
私たちはこの情報社会を生きていく上で、あらゆるものをカテゴリー分けした方が生きやすいし、選びやすいと思っています。しかし、時にはカテゴリーの上澄みだけをすくわずに、奥深くに存在する”モノ”を見据えるようにしたいものです。
追悼の意を込め、今回は"The Nights"をご紹介します。
この曲”The Nights"は彼が幼い頃の父親との記憶を描いたものです。
彼はその瞬間に、父親から貰った言葉の通りにする事ができたのだと、私は信じています。
