イングランド④産業革命の向こう側

　V.I.レーニンの“共産主義とは、ソビエト権力プラス全土の電化である。” をもじって言えば産業革命とは工場化プラス石炭の恒常的供給でした。
　そしてその裏側では炭鉱労働者と経営側との緊張関係が続きました。
　イギリスの炭鉱労働者はその初期から極めて組合組織化率が高く、ストも多発しました。その裏で種々の理由でのスト破りが発生しました。そうした状況を歌った19世紀の歌がBlackleg Minerです。

面白い事にこの歌は1984～1985年の炭鉱ストの際にもリバイバルし、それまで何気なくこの歌を歌っていたナイーブ／保守的な伝承音楽愛好者は歌詞の持つ歴史的意味・危険性に初めて気づかされました。
