2011 Oct. Wakayama FAMILY Trip

My dad, 83 year old Granma and I went to Wakayama for a DAY trip.

お父さんと、おばあちゃんと3人で和歌山に日帰り温泉旅行にいきました!

行ったのはひいなの湯、難波から1時間ほどでいけるので手軽な「たび」でした。

結構ばたばたするかとも思いきや、私は結構ゆっくりごはんのあとも昼ねする時間があったくらい!とってもいい場所だったので是非お泊りでも行きたい場所です。次もしいったら釣りか海水浴したいな!笑

I came up with this plan since my dad and my work schedule is a bit hard to coop (??) and if its a day trip, even we guessed it would be a litle rush, we can make it a good one.

If we came in summer time we could go swimming, near the hotel there is a beach and we actually saw some schoolkids playing around at the beach and also men fishing. It looked nice.

The food, and the onsen, room stay from 11am-4:30pm, bus ride from the station - hotel is included and it was around 20000yen for 3 of us!!

3人で20000円ちょっとでした★ これは日帰りプランで、温泉、昼食、部屋に4時半まで、そして駅までの送迎が込み! もちろん、温泉には入り放題。私達は1度しか入らなかったけど!

この温泉は、っとっても肌がつるつるになったのですごいラッキー♪な気分でした♪

 

i felt so much better after the onsen, and our skin was sooooooooooo smooth. even my granma felt so!!!!   and great view, everything was so good!!!! woohoo!!!!!!

Crab cream sauce spaghetti かにクリームソーススパゲッティー 1, 2, 3, 4, 5!

what you need ★

★かにみそ、かにかま、きのこ、スパゲッティー、牛乳、バター、オリーブオイル、トマト缶  にんにく、塩 パセリか青じそ 白ワイン

Crab butter, crab meat (fake one is okay), any kind of mushroom, spaghetti, milk, butter, olive oil, garlic, salt    Canned chopped tomato percely or aojiso for topping white wine

1. Cook Spaghetti. If the estimated cook time says 7 min, boil only for 5min. always substract 2 min from the instructed time otherwise it will be overcooked. use a big pot to boil and add 3 table sp of slat when boiling

パスタは表示時間から2分ひいた分数ゆでる 大目の水で塩はおおさじ3くらいいれてもいい

2.Heat olive oil and gralic in a skillet, stir in canned tomatos and mushroom.

フライパンにオリーブオイルとガーリックを熱して、においがしてきたらトマト缶ときのこをいれいためる

3.add butter, crab butter, 1cup of milk and stir -  add little bit of white wine and cook for less than one minute.check the taste and add salt or pepper if needed

バター、かにみそ、牛乳を入れて混ぜる。しろワインを少し入れて煮るもし必要なら塩コショウをする

4.add cooked pasta in and stir once, quickly decorate on a plate.

ゆでたパスタを入れたら1回ぐるっとまぜてすぐにお皿にもりつける

5.on top of the spaghetti, put crab meat and aojiso. it looks beautiful with the color contrast.

パスタの上にかにかまと青じそをのせて出来上がり

 

 


Tofu Steak with vegi.sauce とうふステーキの野菜ソースがけ♪ 1,2,3,4,5!

Easy, Healthy, and DELICIOUS!!!!!!! (My own receipe)

用意するもの

とうふ1丁 きゅうり2本 ソーセージ1本 たまねぎ半分  ポン酢 梅ぼし

てんぷら粉 または 小麦粉  油少々 塩少々  easy step 1-5で作ってみてね♪

1.きゅうり、ソーセージ、たまねぎ 梅干 はみじん切りにする。 たまねぎは辛いので塩水につけておく。

2.とうふの、水分を十分にきったら小麦粉にまぶす。油をひいたフライパンでこんがりと焼く。

3.たまねぎをいったん取り出してすすぎ、1の材料と、ポン酢を混ぜる。

4.とうふがこんがり焼けたら、広めのお皿に盛る。

5.3のソースをかけてできあがり。  ソースには、青じそやパセリ、みつばなどの香り野菜を入れると

いっそうおいしくなりますよ☆

what you need....     and easy stpe 1-5!!

☆ cucamber, sausages, onions, flour, Tofu,

1. dice cucamber, sausages (cooked hot dog is okay.) and onions. Soak onions in the salt water for about 5 min.

2.Dry the Tofu with kitchen paper or microwave the tofu for about 2 min. to dry all the water from tofu. (this is to prevent tofu from spitting all over.cover tofy with flour (add little water in flour) and fry both side. (if you like it really crispy, use much oil but i used only about one table spoon of oil because the whole purpse of this dish is to be... healthy. hahaha   it should take about 3 min. on each side.

3. Take out the onions out of salt water, mix with No.1 and PONZU.

4.When both side of tofu are cooked and (crispy is good!), place them in a large plate!!

5. pour the No.3 Sauce on tofu!!! if you add percely, mitsuba, aojiso or etc those herbs itll even makes a rich flavor! luv luv!!

Fejioada! フェジオアーダ  from Brazil(ブラジル料理)

In this entry, i will introduce Fejioada, Brazilian dish. Its blackbeans with pork, along with salad and rice... ( i added the salad and rice) just the beans are called Fejion.

This is how you make Fejioada, i cut and paste this directly from a site.

8 cups dried black beans

3 pounds carne seca (Brazilian salted cured beef)

2 pounds sweet sausage (I use Portuguese choriço when available)

2 pounds baby back spareribs

2 bay leaves

1 large onion

2 cloves garlic

3 tablespoons olive oil

The night before, soak the beans in a large bowl with water to cover at least 3-4 inches. Soak the carne seca in water to cover. The next morning, drain the beans and place in a large pot with water to cover by at least 3 inches. Bring the beans to a boil in medium heat.

Meanwhile, cut the carne seca into 1-inch pieces. Cut the sausage into 1-inch pieces. (When I use the Portuguese sausage I usually prick it with a fork and simmer it for ten minutes in enough water to cover; then I cut it.) Cut the ribs into 2-rib sections.

Add the carne seca, sausage, ribs and bay leaves to the beans. Simmer for about 2 hours or until soft (Goya brand black beans usually take about 2 hours) , stirring from time to time, adding water as necessary to keep beans covered. Keep an eye on the beans so they don't burn at the bottom!

Chop the onion and garlic. Heat the olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until golden brown. Add two ladlefuls of beans and mash them. Put this back into the pot. It will thicken and season the beans.

Continue to simmer gently for at least another hour, adding water as necessary. A good feijoada should have a creamy consistency when done. Remove the bay leaves. Some people take the meats out at this point and serve them separately on a platter. I like to leave them in with the beans, it keeps them hot. Serve the feijoada and garnishes in ceramic bowls and platters, it will add a touch of authenticity!

 


クラムチャウダー鍋 clamchowder nabe

prepare

canbell's can clamchowder soup キャンドルのクラムチャウダー缶(KALDIなど外国のものを扱うスーパーお店で売ってます)

milk 牛乳

any vegis 野菜 好きなもの

any pasta パスタ 好きなもの

 

what you do....

1.in a pan, pour in clamchawder soup   お鍋に(私はフライパン。)クラムチャウダー1缶と牛乳を入れて似る

2.add milk ( i added one can of milk but you can add more if you like it milker) 好きな野菜を入れて塩コショウで味付け

 I addded spinich, potatos, onions and daikon. hehe

私はほうれん草、ポテト、大根、オニオンを入れました。

3.add any vegis, salt pepper, if you need it

しめは、ラーメンの代わりにパスタで!

you can enjoy two different meal! first just the soup, then add pasta at the end! its so yummy

 you can cook more pasta than one night amount, so you can use it on later days. its useful!!

しめにパスタを入れるとクリームスパゲッティになるよ。

its so gooooood!

 

 


Pork and beansprouts fry (prep.10min.Deep Fry 3min.) もやしの豚肉巻き (DEEP FRIED) 揚物

My mom found a receipe on the internet and she begged me to make this!!! (Her schedule is much tighter than mine so i normally do the cooking )

もやしの豚肉まき    pork moyashi            moyashi- beansprouts

what you need:for two people 2人用の材料

thin sliced pork- about 10 slices    豚肉薄切り 10枚 もし ロースでも、なんでもOK 私は油の少ないしゃぶしゃぶ用を使った。

MOYASHI or Beansprouts  -1bag   もやし一袋

To add flavor, prepare Aojiso or Basil leaf  香り付けにバジルまたは青じそ

fresh ginger しょうが 少々

FOR Deep FrY coat batter 衣を作る。

MIX  water, DASHI(fish flake, if not mushroom powder or chicken stock, any kind of flavored stock), and flour 100g

粉だし少々 水少々 小麦粉100g を混ぜる。(加減を見ながら衣をつくる。)

oil for deep frying  揚げ油

FOR SAUCE ソース

MIX these stuff first.

MISO- soybean paste (1 spoon) 味噌 少々

MAYO (1 spoon)マヨネーズ 少々

UMEBOSHI -2 梅干 2こ smash them つぶす

 

How to make ...

1.(prepation)lay out thin sliced pork and paste the sauce with a spoon on the surface. 

 下準備-広げた豚肉に、最初に混ぜておいたソースをスプーンで塗る

2.grab a good amount of moyashi and put them on the pork. when you do this, you should try to hold the moyashi together so it wont come out of the pork when you roll it. YOU can add ginger or basil here, if you like to make a different flavors. also, add smashed ume. its really yum.

適当な量のもやしをその豚肉の上にのせる。あんまりのせぎたりぐちゃぐちゃにのせると巻くときに出てくるので気をつける。

つぶした梅や青じそ しょうがを載せてもおいしいよ!

3.Carefully roll the pork. ゆっくりとその豚肉をくるくるする。

4.sprinkle flour on every rolled pork you made. まきまきした豚肉に小麦粉を少しまぶす。

5.coat the pork in the batter. dont overcook it because the moyashi will be too soft, it wont taste too good. its about 3-4 min fry time.

その豚肉を、衣につけて、熱した油の中であげる。しゃきしゃき触感を残すために 豚肉に火が通った時点であげてOK

だいたい3-4分です・

ALL DONE! できあがり。

 

 

 


Shrimp Mango Salad

you need ...

 作り方

えび マンゴー 冷凍OK  レタス半分 たまねぎ4分の1 スライスチーズ3枚

ヨーグルト マヨネーズ (おおさじ3杯ずつ) タイム ナツメグ こしょう オレガノ パセリ

かいわれだいこんかねぎ

Shrimps, Mango (both frozen ok) and half lettuce, 1/4 onion (chopped), some cheese (any kind)

 

For Dressing, Yogurt, Mayo, Italian seasoning mix preffered, if u dont have it,

use parcely, Oregano, Thyme, nutmeg, black pepper.

 

SHRIMP...high protein low calory= GREAT FRIEND for healthy diet

MANGO... high in Vitamin A which prevents cancer!! Good for eyes, then even helps the fetus grow nicely.

I will put a picture here, so i can skip the direction!!!!

Its salad!!! come on, you can do it! just mix everything! oh, by the way, you can either boil or fry the shrimps. whichever you like. If you are trying to be healthier, try boiling.

ONLY thing you need to be careful when you make a salad......

wash the lettuce, and rinse it, make sure you drain the water off the veges you washed. When there is too much water, it can make everything else soggy and it just ruins it!

TIPS* u should salt the shrimp :>

Add any type of green herby things on top like... green onions or

shiso leaf, thin sliced spinich, percely, sprout etc... to add a bit color

 えびは、ゆがいて冷やす

レタスは冷やしてよく洗って水を切る(ここで真剣に水を切らないとおいしくない)

チーズは小さく刻む

マンゴーは解凍しておく

材料がそろったら

レタス、マンゴ、チーズ、ねぎ の順でのせてってDressingかけて終わり♪

最高においしいよー♪

I cooked these dishes in the past couple of weeks :)

 

And sorry for the photo size, some photos were taken on my mobile so its hard to see....

  りんご入りグリーンサラダ  "Gargen salad with apple"

I just put a bunch of fresh veggies- at least 3 different kind of Green leaf(regular ball lettuce, spinich, sunny Lettuce, Shiso leaf) two different kind of citrus (yuzu and Lemon) and more.. I love love love Fresh veggies and while staying in America thats what I missed the most! "A varieties of veggies and the change throughout the season" In America, Ready to go salad was so useful and i often bought that- but as long as im in Japan, im going to make my own choice what veggies will go with what, and which season, what about the color, the looks, and the nutrients? its the fun part of cooking in Japan!

アメリカにいるときは、もうバッグに入ってて洗わなくてもきらなくてもいい、ready to go salad をよく買っていました。この季節にはこの果物!とかそういう概念はあまりなく、季節の野菜をつかってサラダ、などの料理があまりみられなかった気がします。日本にいる間は私は思い切りたくさんの食材を使って

季節も栄養も彩りも考えて野菜をたくさん食べたいと思います★

 

 Pumpkin Salad and Chicken Donburi

Pumplin salad- microwave 1/4 pumpkin for 10min. smash it and add 1 cup of milk, and table spoon of butter, salt and pepper! its great for kids too cause its sweet!

Chicken Donburi- i just made it my own way so i dont know if this will work for any of you- !!! sorry, no warranty! hehe  

Daikon, chicken, green onion - you cut them into small pieces (2cm) pour sesami oil or regular veg oil in a pan, fry chicken and daikon for about 5 min. flavor with soy sauce, Mirin or honey or sugar, and sake. I crached an fresh egg yolk on top. (Ive only done this in JAPAN because i know that japanese eggs are meant to use to raw too, but i dont know about other places, so please check if your eggs are fesh and ok to eat uncooked!!! i dont wanna kill anyone!  lol)

 

 "まきまきパーティー” Maki Maki party! roll roll party! plus あら汁 Ara Jiru (soup with Fish head!) haha

This is just basically a lot of Lettuce, and the rest of the igridience that go in the lettuce.

I prepared Maroni- (rice noodle. i think) some kind of meat ( i did beef and shrimp)

Satumaage (fish paste fry? in Taiwan they call i TEMPUrA which i think its totally wrong haha)   Nira (no idea what you call it in Eng.) its the thin long green veggies from China haha

Now, I loooooooooooooooooooove to make this soup because

1. Fish head is normally a part you through awayso its sooooooooooooooo cheap. I got 鯛 tai, which if you buy one fish of tai it will cost you easy over 1000yen or 3000yen or something. but only head was like 200yen. and it was half price 30 min. before the store closed. thats the best time since almost every fresh stfuff is marked down.

 cause there isnt any meat in it but

actually when you get soup out of it, its ohhhh you dont need any seasoning, really, its the taste of ocean :) wich i think some people hate, but i love. it IS a popular and typica menu in SUSHI restaurant. some expert critiques say "you will be able to judge the sushi when you have a bown of arajiru" which i totally believe!

2. Pretty Easy, but pro TASTE!

You boil fish head with salt. then drain all the water- this is important to keep the fishhy smell away for the soup.

Add fresh water, then pour in Soy sauce , dried seaweed,  and a little bit of Yuzu skin! and done!

 

What I call "American Meal"

Cambell Clam Chowder(Loved by me and mama)

Toast, fried eggs, and Garden salad!

This was so easy and light!!! so it took me only about 10 min. for the whole thing.

Well, but we all agreed that this was more like !lunch! than dinner so later on we were hungry and shared Curry udon. hahahaha what a eater...... ><;

If i could add one more to this "American Meal", what would you cook?

Chicken? potatos? hmmm pretty difficult!


Tomato Sauce- Chicken and Olives

What you need*

Spaghetti, Olives with anchovy (if not just olives and anchovy or just olives)

Chicken ( i used breast), whole can tomato  salt pepper  garlic  olive oil

what you do*

1.cook pasta, salt it (dont over cook)

 

2.in a skillit, heat olive oil and garlic, olives fry til brown (dont burn)

3. add chicken, salt and pepper. pour in tomatos

4. add pasta, mix it and serve :>

(if you are not confident about salting and peppering, just buy the pasta tomato sauce already made!!

<extra mushroom or other veges like spinich would be awesome  i think>
