公式サイトや教科書アドバイス：
Skim the text to get a general idea of what is about.

All the questions, except for the global one, are in order, so you can concentrate on one part of the text at a time. The global question will come at the end, but you need to make sure you take the whole text into account when you answer it.

Some of the options may be true but do not answer the question. Other options many seem very plausible and even contain elements of the same vocabulary, but do not answer the question correctly. Read the questions carefully and check each option against the text before rejecting it.

The reference question may refer ether forwards or backwards, so check carefully on either side of the pronoun to see what it refers to.

As you read, underline the part of the text which you think contains the answer.


ケンブリッジ英検では、問題用紙にアンダーラインを引いたり、書き込んだりできるようです。（この点はTOEICよりずっとやりやすいですね。）
文章の上から質問が順に出てくるということなので、Part1や2のアドバイスのように、最初に全部読み込むというよりは、最初にザーッと見てから問題を１問１問順番に解いていくというアプローチがよいようです。

この問題はなるべく時間をかけずに解きたいところですが、それっぽい選択肢が並んでいると、少し悩んでしまいます。

Part4: Key word transformations

これもUse of Englishの問題。文章の書き換えの問題が6問出ます。回答は2語以上５語以下。

Write between two and five words as your answer. To count the number of words, the full form should be taken into account, e.g. didn’t = did not = two words.

In this part of the Reading and Use of English paper you are tested on both grammar and vocabulary. There are six questions and an example at the beginning. You can get up to two marks for each question.

この問題は１問2点のようです。FAQを見ると、回答は文章を２つのパートに分けて採点するということのようです。半分当たっていれば１点もらえるということです。

What happens if I make one small mistake in the key word transformation task (Part 4)? Does it mean I get zero points?

The two parts of the sentence are always treated separately, so you will receive 1 mark for correctly completing one part of the sentence, even if a small mistake means that you get no points for other part.

Example:
The last time Enrico saw Gloria was the day they left school.
SEEN
Enrico has ............. the day they left school.
Answer: not/ n’t seen Gloria ][ since

上記の例はわかりやすいですが。他の問題とか見ているとどこで２つのパートに分けるの？？というのもあります。
１箇所スペルミスや過去形や複数形などを間違っても、１点もらえる可能性がある、くらいに思っていた方がいいかもです。

いずれにしても、私はこの問題では失点しがちです。問題をたくさん解いて傾向を把握しないとです。

テストの内容(4) Reading and Use of English - Part3

Part3: Word formation

User of Englishの問題。これもPart1, Part2 と同様に8つのブランクを埋める問題。
とはいえ、入れるべき単語が用意されているので、ゼロベースで考えるPar2に比べると難しくないです。

公式サイトや教科書のアドバイス。

You need to read the sentence carefully to decide what kind of word is missing - is it a noun, a verb, an adjective or an adverb?
Remember that the words you need to write in Part 3 might have to change into a negative or a plural.
Don’t leave the base word in Part 3 unchanged.

否定語とか複数とか、たまに名詞→名詞もありますね。質問の傾向を覚えるとそんなに難しくないので、ここで点数を稼ぎたいところですが。スペルミスとか、正確に覚えていない単語が出てくると、失点してしまうのですよね・・。単語変換は完璧に覚えないとです。

Part2: Open cloze

Part1とほぼ同じで、１つの文章を読んで8つの穴を埋めるのですが。こちらは選択肢がありません。

なので、フレーズまで含めて考えなくていいのがありがたいです。
問題は、文法的な問題が多いようです。

公式サイトや教科書などのアドバイスは、Part1とほぼ同じです。一旦文章を全部読んでから、回答したほうがよさそうです。

思い出せないと空欄はなかなか埋められません。
また、スペル、時制、複数形などを間違うと、無駄に失点してしまいます。

私の場合は、やはりUse of Englishは正答率が下がります・・。

テストの内容(2) Reading and Use of English - Part1

Part1: Multiple-choice cloze

Readingの設問。１つの文章に８つ穴があり、それぞれ4つの選択肢から選ぶ問題。

公式サイト、教科書、問題集からのの主なアドバイスを見ると、最初に一旦文章を読んでから、穴埋めを解けと書いてあります。

Read the sources, titles and subtitles of the texts where given; they are there to help you.
Always read the text all the way through before you try to fill in any gaps.
Don’t choose your answer in Part 1 before you have read all the options.
Remember to read the passage from beginning to end before you start deciding on answers. You might get easily get an answer wrong if you don't understand the meaning of the whole passage.

Read the words following the gaps in Parts 1 and 2 as they may have an effect on the answer.

なので、上記のアドバイスがあるのですよね。

文章は難しくないのですが、知らない語彙が出てくると失点しがちです・・。

Although this is the first part of the Reading and Use of English paper, you can do the seven parts of the paper in any order you want.
ちなみに、Part1から順に説く必要はないということです。

テストの内容(1) Reading and Use of English（全般）

さて、今日からFCEのテストの構成や内容について、公式サイトに記載されている情報を少しずつ読み込んでいきたいと思います。
今年については、日本での唯一の選択肢である（はず）の、ペーパーテストの情報を見ていきます。

なお、このブログも含めて、テストに関することは、公式サイトとテスト実施会社のサイトの最新の情報以外については、うのみにしないほうがよいと思います。

では、まずは、Reading and Use of English の全般から。

How important is spelling?

How are the separate scores for Reading and Use of English determined?
On your Statement of Results and your certificate, you receive a Cambridge English Scale score for Reading and a separate Cambridge English Scale score for Use of English (as well as Writing, Listening and Speaking). On the Reading and Use of English paper, the Reading score is derived from Parts 1, 5, 6 and 7, and the Use of English score is derived from Parts 2, 3 and 4.

Do I have to pass each paper in order to pass the whole examination?
No. Your overall performance is calculated by averaging the scores you achieve in Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking and Use of English. The weighting of each of the four skills and Use of English is equal.

Use of Englishの得点に占める位置付けが高いです！テストは４つのセクションに分かれていますが、採点は、Use of English、Reading、Writing、Listening、Speakingの５つの分野が同列です。

やはり、Use of Englishの弱点を克服しないといけません。
