relevant

This BBC article is a promotion of a radio programme. I like such articles because I could find good radio programmes.
Moreover, written summaries and quotes from radio programmes are helpful for listening to colloquial phrases and expression.

[quote] I think with those sorts of heritage brands, you still need to find ways of keeping them fresh and relevant. [unquote]
[quote]Ultimately it had failed to remain relevant to enough customers to survive in the face of new competition. [unquote]

[quote] "it just wasn't quite offering what people were after" [unquote]
I cannot talk like this...

I'd never been to Little Chefs, but I can understand the fond memories and the nostalgia for childhoods.

tin

2024-02-23 19:53:41 | Vocab - business
The classic tin is very familiar with me but I didn't know the product and the meaning of the lions.
My neighbourhood cafe in Britain serves sugar in the tin, but I thought the tin is originally a spice or curry powder in it.

They remain the tin syrup! I thought the all products rebranded.
I don't eat the syrup, though. I definitely prefer honey than syrup.

"Tin" is British. "Can" is American. I hadn't known 缶 is came from "can" until today!

eightfold

2024-01-14 18:10:25 | Vocab - business
It was a scam as I thought.
It wasn't WhatsApp but sometimes I receive messages of recruiting by iMessage. I've got a message from whose company is "Mercer".
It's funny that I receive a message from UK postoffice regarding package delivery, but I wonder, for a moment, if the sender might saw my LinkedIn when I received a recruiting message. It is obvious that recruiters never contact by iMessage, though.

'I had £3,000 stolen via WhatsApp job scam message'

We can listen the voice of the victim and the criminologist in MoneyBox programme, but it seems that the young victim is trying to be positive.

I've been receiving inquiries since I updated LinkedIn in 2020. They were all small or medium size UK companies, but were they all scams?

My cases are different from this article's. I didn't know about Nihon Arubaito.
I was recruited by a rich business man who lives in Manhattan NY last night. I ignore words of drunks. It's all just talk in a bar.
