Matt Hancock quits as health secretary after breaking social distance guidance

Sajid Javid appointed health secretary after Matt Hancock resigns
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2021/jun/26/matt-hancock-resigns-after-questions-over-relationship-with-aide

<引用>
The minister finally fell on his sword after a day that began with senior Tories observing a deliberate silence over Hancock’s future – seemingly to test public opinion in their constituencies – before many later broke ranks to insist he had to go.

The Queenにpoor manと同情されたHancockの破壊力のあるgossip。

Matt Hancock: Calls for health secretary to quit after kissing colleague
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-57622868

<引用>
Ms McVey, Conservative MP for Tatton, told GB News she would have resigned had she been in Mr Hancock's position and hoped he was "thinking the same thing".
She added that it would be "viewed more admirably" if he came forward and did not have to have it "pushed upon him".
<引用終>

<引用>
Christchurch MP Sir Christopher told BBC Radio 4's PM programme that Mr Hancock's position had become "untenable", saying that his constituents were "seething".
<引用終>

Matt Hancock: Who is Gina Coladangelo? Alleged affair caught on CCTV rocks Whitehall
https://www.scotsman.com/news/politics/matt-hancock-who-is-gina-coladangelo-alleged-affair-caught-on-cctv-rocks-whitehall-3286707

<引用>
The affair, seemingly supported by CCTV images showing Mr Hancock and Ms Coladangelo embracing in his office at the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) HQ, has rocked the government.
This comes as the Conservative minister was supposedly called “f****** hopeless” by Boris Johnson according to former aide, Dominic Cummings.
<引用終>

<引用>
Unfortunately for the UK, affairs, gossip and sleaze have long held a place at the heart of British politics – making these latest accusations of an affair taking place at the highest levels of government nothing too out of the ordinary.
<引用終>

"That is exactly what the SNP always accuse the Westminster government of doing - riding roughshod over people.
"The SNP are treating the north of England with the same contempt in bringing that in without any consultation with us."

What the loss of a Conservative seat tells us about England’s changing middle class
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/jun/18/conservative-seat-england-middle-class-chesham-and-amersham-tories

<引用>
The English middle class and the places where it tends to congregate are changing. The way Brexit has revolutionised Conservative politics is accelerating that shift. And now, there are clear signs that the appeal of the Tories is weakening in places they once took for granted: an apparent mirror-image of Labour’s travails in so-called red wall seats that is in its comparatively early stages, but might turn out to be just as fascinating.

Peter Gabriel: festivals risk ‘losing everything’ without government insurance
https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/jun/17/peter-gabriel-festivals-risk-losing-everything-without-government-insurance

<引用>
“Festival organisers have received more than £34m from our unprecedented Culture Recovery Fund, with more support on the way. We are aware of the wider concerns about securing indemnity cover for live events and are exploring what further support may be required when the sector is able to reopen.”

<引用>
“It’s endless, the repercussions of this. This isn’t a quick fix. This is our suppliers who have earmarked all of their kit to come to our site and turned down other jobs; it’s the artists, who have been so amazing; and the agents. It’s a whole raft of people that have been affected by this. This is people’s lives.”
<引用終>

NTIA..

Normandy marks D-day anniversary with new memorial

<引用>
Once again, the coronavirus has prevented British and other veterans from returning to relive, as they have in previous years, their longest day. On Sunday, 77 years on, most are aged over 95, and frail. Their numbers are of course dwindling.

It is particularly poignant this year as for the first time, surviving British Normandy veterans and their families have their own dedicated memorial to the largest sea invasion in history.

undertaking police on hard shoulder

2021-06-05 15:34:15 | Vocaburary

<引用 Oxford Dictionary>
VERB [WITH OBJECT]
British
Catch up with and pass (another vehicle) while travelling on the inside.
<引用終>

<引用 Oxford Dictionary>
NOUN
British
A hardened strip alongside a motorway for stopping on in an emergency.
<引用終>

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-birmingham-57358040

<引用>
Dashcam footage shows Simon Pagett undertaking on the M6 on 5 November last year and an officer exclaiming "Really?" in disbelief.
He appears as if he is going to stop but then drives off, goes through red lights, hits a central reservation and does a lap of a Toby Carvery car-park as he tries to escape.
Pagett was arrested after pulling over a short time later.
<引用終>

あとはTop Gear(Grand Tour?)
