私は鎮守の森を散策しました I strolled in the grove of a village shrine.

　昨日は、杉の木立の中を歩きました。
ここは、茨城県常陸太田市町屋の台地の上にある、鎮守の森です。
木立の間から、早春の田園風景を眺めました。
I walked in the grove of the Japan cedar yesterday.
Here is a grove of a village shrine on the plateau in Ibaraki Prefecture Hitachiota City Machiya.
I looked at the rural scene at the early spring between groves.



この森には、杉の他に、たくさんの椿やケヤキも自生しています。
A lot of camellias and zelkovas besides the Japan cedars grow naturally in this forest, too.



いろいろな種類の低木も、大木の下で力強く繁殖しています。
Various kinds of bushes have bred powerfully under gigantic trees, too.



このケヤキの巨木は、何百年も前から成長を続けています。
ケヤキは、豊富な地下水を必要とする樹木です。
台地の突端であるにもかかわらず、この鎮守の森には、豊富な地下水が存在します。
This zelkova gigantic tree keeps growing up for hundreds of years.
The zelkova is a tree that needs abundant underground water.
Abundant underground water exists in this village shrine's forest though it is an edge of the plateau.



地下水を十分に吸い上げたケヤキは大木に育ち、今も伸び続けています。
そして、大木のたくさんの根が、雨水を保存し、新しい地下水を生み出します。
The zelkova that sucks up underground water enough grows up in the gigantic tree, and keeps growing now.
And, a lot of roots of the gigantic tree preserve rain water, and new underground water is invented.



ケヤキの樹皮の模様は、変化に富んでいます。
地中のたくさんの根は、さらに多様な構造を示しているはずです。
The pattern of the bark of the zelkova is varied.
A lot of underground roots are sure to show more various structures.



大きなケヤキの下に、小さなアオキが生えていました。
アオキの果実たちは、これから赤く色づき、野鳥達の注目を集めます。
この小さな果実は、自然界の共生のしくみを象徴しています。
A small Japanese laurel has grown under a big zelkova.
The Japanese laurel fruits will color in red in the future, and attract wild birds' attention.
These small fruits symbolize the mechanism of the symbiosis of the natural world.



木陰には、たくさんのヤブツバキのつぼみがありました。
もう少し気温が上がれば、花たちが開きます。
豊富なヤブツバキの蜜は、たくさんの野鳥に貴重なエネルギーを供給します。
全ての生物は、共生して生きてきました。
そして、全ての生命を養っているのは、過去も現在も、太陽です。
私は、鎮守の森で、太陽に感謝しました。
In the shade of a tree, there were a lot of buds of Thea nakaii.
If the temperature goes up a little more, flowers open.
The honeys of abundant Thea nakaii supplies valuable energy to a lot of wild birds.
All living things live together and have lived.
And, it is the sun that supports all lives past and now.
I expressed my gratitude to the sun in the grove of a village shrine.



鎮守の森の台地の麓では、豊富な地下水が、絶え間なく湧いています。
今日、この鎮守の森では、恒例の祭礼が開催されます。
Abundant underground water springs constantly in the foot in the plateau in the grove of a village shrine.
A customary festival is held in this village shrine's forest today.


繁栄という言葉の日本語の標記を、私は思い出しました。
繁栄という意味の漢字は、繁るという意味と、栄えるという意味の合体です。
栄えるという漢字にも、樹木の部首を含みます。
つまり繁栄とは、本来の日本では、豊穣な森を意味しています。
これからも、その意味を思い出すことが大切だと、私は思います。
私は、鎮守の森とともに生きる、この地域の人々が繁栄することを祈りました。
I recalled the mark of Japanese of the word prosperity.
The Chinese character of the meaning of prosperity is a union of the meaning of growing thick and the meaning of prospering.
The Chinese character of prospering contains the part neck of the tree.
In a word, prosperity means a good harvest forest in original Japan.
I think that it is important to be going to recall the meaning in the future.
I prayed that people in this region where it lived with the grove of a village shrine prosper.
