いくつかの人や物の中から、一番のものを表現する場合に形容詞や副詞の「最上級」を使います。
「〜は最も〜だ」というような表現です。

形容詞や副詞の形が「最上級」の形に変化します。
例▷ tall→tallest

        big→biggest

形容詞や副詞が長い語の場合は、形は変化せずに「most」をその前につけます。
例▷　beautiful→most beautiful

形容詞の場合、「the」が付くことが多いです。
例▷　the tallest tree

　       the biggest ball
　　　the most beautiful dress
