Time

2024-03-11 | Q and A
Q: I have no time. I just have no time to myself or to do anything that I feel I have accomplished in that particular day? What is happening with our lives? I can never clear my email in-box, it just keeps filling. I feel so overwhelmed. I don't feel I am managing my time well, but it's almost impossible when I have work to do, take care of the house, then my children, and my dog, and my husband???? I need help! I just don't have the time.

A: Yes, it's getting worse. We feel overwhelmed on a constant basis. This is not healthy, and the technology is not helping us, in fact it is going against our natural capacity to handle. our lives have become over run by technology and we just cannot keep up with it.

Yes, there are some tips, like,

- keep life simple
- don't over schedule
- know your limits
- have some margin in your life, try to make that time consciously
- find time to smell the roses
- set your priorities
- just stick to the essentials, eat, sleep, work

yes, they are all good advice and we can incorporate them,
but this is what I think about time.

So the rich and the famous, the poor and the unrecognized
what do they have in common?

I would say one is that we all die eventually
that time will come for everybody on this earth
no matter what status you have or
wealth you have accumulated

and also it's Time
we all have 24 hours to live
and what you do with that time determines who you are
they say what you eat is what you are
but it's true with what you do with the time given

so we all have 24 hours to live
and it's what we do with that same 24 hours we have
do you waste it by looking at youtube after youtube
or watching the ridiculous shows on TV
or do you use it to study, to learn about things that matter to you
and to grow, do you invest your time in that

People say that, oh, after retirement I will have all that time to be bored
but in truth, if you are the kind of person who is always filling that time into
crossing out your do lists
then probably, you will never be bored
it's the way you have filled your day in the past
will still be your habit in the future

you will continue to fill your day with things to do
so it's really not having extra free time
it's all that time you already had as your free time in the past
now that you have gone into a different phase of life
that time spent on working 9 to 5 now changes to working on your interest from 9 to 5
so nothing has really changed
it's that drive you have that you don't want to waste any time in life
that is going to continue to drive you in your retirement years

you will always find things to do
you will always fill that time
you will always do things that are meaningful to you
you will always feel "oh, where did all that time go?"
and you will always say, "I lived a good day today."

I am very careful with that word "retirement"
because if you see me from the outside, you may think I am "retired"
but in fact, no
I don't think I will ever retire as the world says
I will just start managing my time differently than before
before to some extent, my employer, or my company had dictated my time
I still was doing what I enjoy doing
it's just now, I have gained the authority to manage my own time
and if I still continue to work from 9 to 5, I am working 9 to 5
but it's on my terms and not governed by my company

someone said, when she retired, she said "I got to find out what i want to do when I grow up"
yes, it's just another phase of life.
now it just takes a different form than before.
You are now the manager of your own life and time

I would continue to enjoy and fulfill my time as best as I can
I am not here ever to waste my precious time here on earth
I feel I have a mission to accomplish and the time is limited
I only have until 90 years or so to do my job
it's a continuation of serving for people
it's not a goal
it's just a daily mundane work, but rewarding in every sense imaginable
and just 25 more years to go
time is limited
i don't have forever
i only have limited time
when you realize that
you just want to make the most out of it
and for me, making most out of it to help others
and to enrich my life with knowledge that will help others
I want to grow and be wise and in order to be so,
it's how I use my time to fulfil that goal

I make my "to do list" each morning
and crossing out gives me such a pleasure and the feeling of accomplishment
and this is me, the me of who I am
and perhaps I will not change until the day I take my last breath

me, who is constantly on a "go"
constantly exploring
constantly being adventurous
constantly meeting new people
constantly moving
constantly finding someone to help
constantly finding for connection
I just cannot stop
this is me, and I will enjoy being who I truly am
b/c there is no one else like me, other than myself
so I might as enjoy having myself as my company

so again, at the end of the day, I will say, "where did my time go?"
"what have I accomplished?"
and still say to myself, "today was another good day, another blessed day.
I have lived fully to glorify His name. Amen!"
