9月18日は何の日でしょう？？ です！
敬老の日ですね！
Respect-for-the-Aged-Day や National Grandparent's Day と言ったりするそうです。
日本ではおじいちゃん、おばあちゃんに会いに行ったり、
プレゼントを贈ったりしますが、他の国ではそれほど重要視されていなかったり、
敬老の日自体ない国もあるみたいです。
詳しく調べてみるとおもしろいかもしれません

今週は、大雨が２回も降りましたね。
そして、仙台の街のあちらこちらで洪水が発生しました。
洪水は英語でflooding といいます。
私も通勤途中の道のあちらこちらが冠水していました。
なんと、八木山動物公園の前（八木山のてっぺん）にもかかわらず
冠水して車が立ち往生していました。
The heavy rain caused flood in Sendai this week.
これから台風の季節にはいるので、ますます用心しなければならないですね！
来週は、また残暑がやってくるようです。
仙台の街では、定禅寺ストリートジャスフェステバルとオクトーバーフェストが開催されています！

It`s my first time making a Vietnamese spring roll and I find it easy to make. With the help of YouTube, I can prepare and make these rolls very easy. Spring rolls mean salad rolls, and for the longest time, I never made that connection. I just assumed it was a random name for these rolls. We all know that there are a lot of different kinds and versions of rolls in the whole world.
But these tasty little rice paper rolls are indeed a green leafy salad mixture which are lettuce, carrots, cucumber, shrimp, and rice noodles. Dip it in as much sauce (or should we say peanut sauce or sweet chili sauce) as you’d like. I love these rolls –they’re tasty, fun to eat, and very healthy. I think they’re great as a common meal where everyone is rolling their own on the table.
Vietnamese spring rolls were meant to be just an appetizer and never a full meal. Although I feel like this kind of cuisine can be part of your main meal for the whole day because it`s cheap and super healthy.

さて、本日9月7日は「絶滅危惧種の日」なのだそうです！
絶滅危惧種と言えば、ジャイアントパンダを思い出す人も多いのではないでしょうか？
私は知る人ぞ知るパンダ好きです
孫の様に見守っていた上野のシャンシャンも、今年2月に中国に返還になりました
でも、今では元気に広い森の中を駆け回っているそうです
さて、宮城でもパンダ仙台誘致に関して活発な議論が交わされているそうです。
モチロン、近くでパンダを見ることができるのは大変喜ばしいことだと思います。
半面、とても複雑な気持ちです。
個のパンダの幸せを考えると何だかなぁ…と言う感じです💦

夏が終わり、今週は涼しい過ごしやすい気温ですね
仙台は今週一週間雨の予報です
雨に関する英語表現はたくさんありますが、今日はいくつかご紹介したいと思います
にわか雨はshower、霧雨はmisting、小降りはsplinklingと表現されます。
おもしろいのは大雨の時で、
bucketing down（バケツをひっくり返したような雨）や、
raining cats and dogsとも表現されます
私が聞いたのは猫と犬が大はしゃぎするくらいの大雨という由来でしたが
調べてみるといろいろな説があるそうです
今日の仙台はまさに it's raining cats and dogs です…

There’s no denying that pasta is decidedly Italian. However, as is common with well-loved world cuisines, the origins of pasta are highly contested and may be found in many intersections of time and place. Still, pasta is one of my favorite comfort foods when it comes to carbo-loading. Spagethi has different kinds of versions and how they cook it. Especially talking about spaghetti`s in different corners of the world. For example
The Japanese take on Italian food is an interesting look into the way one culture interprets food from another. Take naporitan, which is a dish that takes spaghetti noodles and tosses them with any combination of ketchup, bell peppers, mushrooms, sausage, bacon, onions, and bacon. Yes, you read that correctly, ketchup. It’s a sweeter take on spaghetti that’s accented by savory ingredients that turn the noodles into a one-plate meal.
Kheema is a seasoned minced meat dish originating in South Asia. It starts with a ground meat of your preference, which is then seasoned with onion, ginger, garlic, and spices. Though it might give off echoes of Italian bolognese, it’s served much drier and spicier.
Since I`m from the Philippines. I made Filipino-style spaghetti. Filipino spaghetti is notorious for one particular flavor: its sweetness. Yes, it’s got hot dogs in it too. The reason why this ground beef, hot dog, and tomato pasta is so sweet is because it employs the use of banana ketchup or sugar. I just used sugar instead of banana ketchup since it`s not available in Japan. The sugariness of it can separate people who are trying it for the first time, but after a few bites, it’s easy to see why the dish is so beloved. A Filipino spaghetti is not spaghetti without topping a generous amount of cheddar cheese. The resulting trial is a celebration of sweet, salty, and sour flavors that puncture the palate, true to a dish that is remarkably Filipino.
