Hello! I hope everyone is enjoying their Friday today. Last week, I talked about Canada because that's the country where I was born. But I mostly just told you about the eastern part of Canada, which is where I'm from. So this time, I'd like to show you some things about western Canada. The largest Canadian city on the west coast is Vancouver.
I lived in the Vancouver area for about 13 years. Many Japanese people like this city because it's not so far from Japan. It only takes about 7 or 8 hours by airplane to fly from Narita Airport to Vancouver Airport. Also, there are beautiful mountains and so much water near Vancouver. People can do a lot of different things there, for example take a boat cruise, go skiing or snowboarding, enjoy the pretty nature, etc.
This is a photo of a wind turbine (風力タービン in Japanese) on Grouse Mountain, which is the highest point in Vancouver. This is the only wind turbine in the world where tourists can go to the top of the tower and see the power of the wind up close, through clear glass windows. It's really fun!
You can see some animals in Vancouver, too. There are 2 grizzly bears who live on Grouse Mountain. Here's a picture of these kind of bears:
Canada is a country with lots of wildlife! Vancouver is one of my favorite places there. It's also famous for hosting the 2010 Winter Olympics. Soon Tokyo will probably host the Summer Olympics, so I think some Canadian athletes will come to Japan this year. I hope you can visit Canada someday, too!!
Have a nice weekend...
