今日は、スターリーは年末の大掃除でした。
１年間の埃を払い、新しい年を迎える準備万端整いました。
クリスマス前にクリスマスの飾りつけを外すのは、少し気が引けますが、
全部すっかり外しました。
今年もスターリーに毎週通って来て下さり、ありがとうございました。
年明けは、いよいよ英検もあります！
年度末の発表会の準備も着々と進んでいます！
また来年も、楽しく通ってきてもらえるように、スタッフ全員で盛り上げていきたいと思います。

ここまで見ごたえのあるクリスマスツリーは生まれて初めてです。
しかも家からこんなに近くで.…
私以外見物人はいませんでした。

I just love this time of year for many reasons of course, I will be spending time with family this Christmas, the giving (and receiving!) of presents, and the whole wonderful vibe. The vibe is achieved by the said reasons but also for me with the wonderful carols and songs that fill the airwaves, homes, and churches across the country, especially in the Philippines.
3 more days “It’s Christmas!”. Savoring the scent of Christmas and Christmas carols I can say that “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” “Rocking Round the Christmas Tree” and “Feed the World” are just a few lines from some of the great Christmas songs. A great Christmas song, will create a feeling of goodwill. It is an art to be able to pull off what could easily fade into irony while of course applying the right dose of sentimentality.
Christmas song has been a staple of the season. These songs no matter how many times you hear them they bring a smile upon our faces. Bars, restaurants, shops, and supermarkets all belt out Christmas songs and no matter how stressed you are upon the realization that the supermarkets are completely out of sprouts they give you that feeling of good cheer.
Christmas allows us an opportunity to raise a glass and allow us the time to think of others. To all of our students, co-workers, friends and family, and someone who is reading this, I would like to greet you a ‘Merry Christmas’

この前渋谷ヒカリエで開催されているウェス・アンダーソンすぎる風景展に行って来ました。
ウェス・アンダーソンは映画監督なのですが、手がける映画の映像がとにかく可愛いです
その映画に出てきそうな写真を展示していました。
色使いがパステルでポップでカラフルで大好きです
いろいろな仕掛けもあり、写真撮影も自由だったので
とっても楽しめました
スターリーは明日から冬休みです

クリスマスの時期だけ、うちの玄関は賑やかになります。
こちらは、教室の大家さんの娘さんがやっている花屋さん
muguetで作ってもらった”スワッグ”です。
ドイツ語で壁飾りという意味だそうです。最近よく街でも見かけますね。
針葉樹の香もクリスマスを演出して、とても気に入っています。
こちらは、前にスターリーに来たサンタクロースからもらったプレゼントです。
地底の森ミュージアムで拾ってきた松ぼっくりと一緒んに飾っています。
後ろの絵はフェルメール展を見に行った時に買ったポストカードです。
綺麗な花の中にたくさんの昆虫達が隠れていてます。
ちょっと分かりずらいですね。この写真では・・・。
こちらは、我が家の一員になったネコ達のためのデコレーション
そして、玄関で写真を撮っていると、何をしているのかと奴らが窓から覗いておりました。

The Philippines holds the world record for having the longest Christmas season. When the first "ber" month begins (September is the first "ber" month), malls start playing Christmas carols and selling Christmas decor and gift items. It's always amusing to find Halloween costumes being sold side by side with Christmas trees but that's how it is.
In groceries and supermarkets, traditional Christmas food has started to make an appearance too. Ham and queso de bola (Edam cheese) start to fill the freezers and shelves. The hot chocolate is made from local tablea, which is a ball of ground-up cacao beans. It's usually heated and combined with water to make a traditional Filipino chocolate drink. The ham and cheese are often enjoyed with pan-de-sal, which is a Filipino bread roll made from flour, eggs, yeast, sugar, and salt. These are Noche Buena staples.
Noche Buena? It's Spanish for "good night", literally, but in the Philippines, Noche Buena is steeped in cultural and religious significance. Three centuries of Spanish colonial rule included the imposition of Catholicism on the nation, creating a deep and lasting religious legacy. For Filipinos, Noche Buena is the night, and the feast, before Christmas Day. More specifically, it is the meal eaten after hearing the midnight mass to welcome Christmas Day.
Paella
Rice is, to Asians, especially for Filipinos, what bread is to Westerners. If you have an extra budget for preparing food in Noche Buena, Paella is the best because you can put all your favorite main dishes on top of your rice and make sure you will finish it on that day because Paella is a very sensitive dish it can be easily spoiled. For important occasions, rice is served in a very special way. While paella originally made its way into the Filipino diet as a byproduct of Spanish colonialism, it has since become a staple dish.
Chicken Galantina
This is one of my favorite dishes during Noche Buena. Chicken Galantina is a Whole deboned chicken stuffed with ground pork, sausages, and eggs, among other things, chicken galantina is also known as chicken relleno. The sheer amount of time and effort required to make this dish has given it a reputation as something only for special occasions.
Fruit Salad
When looking for holiday sweets on a Filipino menu, fruit salad is the number one choice. Filipinos have a peculiar way of serving fruit salad. It's most often with a drained canned fruit cocktail, cream, and sweetened condensed milk. Until now I am still making fruit salad even if it`s not Christmas. This is the dessert that I can eat whole year round.
Fruit cake
Finally, even in the Philippines, there's fruit cake. Personally, I don’t like fruit cake. But, Filipinos said that fruit cake is the main star in Noche Buena because it gives a festive feast on Christmas Eve.
But nowadays, time is changing. Some families don`t follow this tradition anymore they don’t have Noche Buena at home, instead, they just go outside and eat. But I am lucky that I experienced this wonderful tradition in the Philippines.

単語の前や後ろにつくパーツのことですが、知らない単語が出てきたときの意味の予測や
単語を覚える時に役に立ちますよ

接頭辞〈ex〉
外に出ていくイメージです
・explain(説明する）→口から外に出ていくイメージ
・experience（経験）→経験は外に出てしますよね
・expense（出費）→財布からお金が出ていく～
接尾辞〈able〉
～できる、～しやすいというイメージです
・avail（利用）→ available（利用できる）
・reason（利用）→ reasonable（理にかなっている）
・accept（受け入れる）→ acceptable（容認できる）

Philippine Christmas Lantern Festival is set in the Philippines. Many don`t know that the Christmas celebration in the Philippines is very long. We celebrate Christmas starting in September and ends in the first week of January which we call the three kings. Like here in Japan nowadays illumination is a pop culture. But in the Philippines, we put many Christmas lights in our homes. The more Christmas décor and lights the more fun. In each home, you can find a bright lantern “STAR” that symbolizes that Jesus is born and Jesus is home.
Today, the much-awaited Giant Lantern Festival is now set for people in the Philippines especially near its vicinity and for tourists. The lantern festival is held in San Fernando Pampangga which is the northern part of the Philippines.
The Giant Lantern Festival is a festival that showcases the beautifully handmade Christmas lantern The Giant Lantern rises at 18 feet in diameter and is fitted with close to 7,000 bulbs that blink on and off through a number of rotors in sync with a medley of Filipino Christmas songs, these giant lanterns let out not less than 10 designs that feature geometric shapes, flowers, fans, cones and hearts glowing in all colors of the rainbow.
The exhibition is usually capped by the opening of the innermost circle in half to reveal in full bloom what the lantern makers designed to be the showcase of their presentation like the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to the grand applause from a crowd estimated at 20,000 each year. The festival is participated in by some 8-10 villages of the City San Fernando in Pampanga with each one creating its own design, color combination, and interplay of lights and sound. The city is known as the lantern capital of the Philippines.

今日散歩をしていたら、キツツキに出会いました。
慌てて激写…したのですが…(-_-;)
何だかわからん💦
4年前にもキツツキの写真を撮ったのですが…
結局誰にも信じてもらえませんでした💦
キツツキは英語で”woodpecker”と言います。
"wood"は「木」で、クチバシでつつくことを"peck”と言います。
英語と日本語どちらが先かわかりませんが、そのまんまですね…

もうすぐクリスマスですね
ですが、当教室では英検対策も始まっています
1月にテストがあるので生徒たちはみんな頑張っています！
今日は2級の重要単語を少しご紹介します
2級ともなるともうテクニックではなく、本当の英語の実力が試されますが
ここおさえておいて！というポイントももちろんあります。
その一つは副詞です
大門①と③で必ず問われるので、要チェックです！
たとえば、、
情報を付け加える時は furthermore, waht is more, in addition, moreover
などが使われます。全て上乗せしているような単語が入っているので覚えやすい
butのように対比を表す時は nevertheless, on the other hand, however, in contrast
が使われます。私はneverthelessがとっても苦手でなかなか覚えらなかったのですが、
「私の苦手なやつ！」と強く認識したことで逆に覚えるようになりました。
単語を覚える方法は、自分のものにすることです。
わからない単語をぴんと来ない日本語で説明されても覚えられないので
自分に馴染みのある日本語やシチュエーションに置き換えて覚えていきましょう
イラストを描いてみるのもいいですね！
