オレが好んで引用する格言は「Life is a traffic jam」…『人生なんて交通渋滞みたいなもんさ』
人生という道中にて、常に青信号でスムーズに前進できるのが理想だが、現実はそうではない。時には赤信号で立ち止まらなければならないときもある。渋滞にハマればその場で立ち止まらなければならない。でも、いつか前に進むことはできる。
1997年制作・米映画「Gridlock'd/グリッドロック」にて、そんな酔心できるフレーズと接触することができた
麻薬がはびこるアメリカ社会をブラックユーモアを交えて描いた作品。主演のトゥパック・シャクールは本作完成直後の1996年9月13日に銃撃され死亡したため、彼の遺作となったことでも話題になった。
ティム・ロスと2pacていうありえない組み合わせだけでも一見の価値あり。バンド仲間がドラッグの過剰摂取で意識不明の重体となったことをきっかけにヤクをやめて人生をやり直そうとするが、いろんなトラブルに巻き込まれ、そう簡単に現実は好転しないという厳しさをユーモラスに、そしてクールに描いた。そう、人生という道中では常にtraffic jam/Gridlock（交通渋滞）が存在し、思い通りには前進できないものなのだ。
余談だが、病院や役所で待たされる度に、ティム・ロスと2pacが病院や役所でたらい回しされていたシーンを思い出す（笑）
冒頭で言及したLife is a Traffic Jamはこの作品の主題歌のタイトルであった。
