本場のハロウィーン体験記-Experience of the Original Halloween

昨日はハロウィーンだった。
=Yesterday was Halloween.

移住してから約5か月、初めてのハロウィーンだったのでワクワク‼
=5 months passed after immigration, it was the first Halloween so I excited!!

前日に下準備のためお菓子買いにスーパへ行ったら
=To be prepared we went to a grocery store to buy candies,

店はハロウィーングッズで溢れて、
=The store was filled with Halloween stuffs,

特価セールや期限限定のお菓子でいっぱいだった。
= there were full of candies for clearance sale and for the special event.

思わず、使われた砂糖の量を計算してしまい、
=Unintentionally, I have calculated the amount of used sugar,

食欲が落ちてしまったほどだ。
= I almost lost my appetite.

特売コーナーに4袋で10ドール、
=At a SALE-corner, priced 10 dollars for 4 bags,

お菓子コーナーには2袋で8ドールなど
= at other corners such as 8 dollars for 2 bags,

同じお菓子でも値段が違ったので、
= they were priced differently for same candies,

夫と私はあっちへ行ったり、
= my husband I went over there,

そっちへまた戻ったりと、
= back there and came over again,

店をかけ走った。
= we ran over the store.

何回かかごに入れたり、戻したり、また入れ直したりして
=We put some bags in the basket, returned and again put those back in,

最終的なチェックも念入りにした。
= checked the final amount with great care.

午後になって、夫も仕事から早く帰り、
=In the afternoon, my husband back home earlier from his work,

前庭から車を移動させて、玄関のドアの虫除け網も外した。
= moved his car from the front yard and removed the bug net from the front door.

6時頃になると、家の前の共道に人騒ぎがした。
=Around 6 o’clock, there was people’s ado in the front street.

やがて、初めてのドアのノックがコンコンコン！
=Before long, there was the first knocking on the door nock-nock-nock!

夫はキャンディーのお盆を持って、
= my husband got the tray of candies,

私は彼について、階段をかけ走っておりた。
=I was behind him, ran down the stairs.

ドアを開けると5－6人の子供たちが、
=When the door opened there were 5 or 6 children,

お菓子袋を持って、Happy Halloween!!と言った。
= holding their candy bags, greeted Happy Halloween!!

コスチュームも様々で当てるのには集中力が要る。
=Their costumes are variety so to hit what is, I needed concentration.

それから約1時間半、子供たちが多くきた。
=During an hour and a half, many children have come.

中には3才の可愛い赤ちゃんがお父さんの腕で抱かれてきて、
=A 3-year-old baby has been embraced by her father also came,

母さんがお菓子袋を持って来たのでその赤ちゃんと握手もできた。
= and the baby’s mother was holding the candy bag so I could handshake with the baby.

子供達は本当に可愛くて、恥ずかしそうに
=Kids were so cute, said shyly and

Trick or treat! と小さい声で言うのであった。
= Trick or Treat! in lower voice.

子供達のノックが少し間隔的になった時、
=When the kids’ knocking got an interval,

今度は近所の人達が挨拶に来てくれた。
= next coming was neighbors visiting us to say hello.

すぐ隣、向かいの斜め、その隣のでっかい家主など、
=The very next door, across the street diagonally, next of the next etc,

嬉しい訪問者でリビングが溢れた。
= living room was crowded with happy questers.

日本なら事前の知らせ無しでは人の家に来ることは無いのだが、
=In Japan custom, they don’t visit neighbor’s houses without formal notice,

ここは、失礼すると言いながら気軽に寄ってくる。
= but here they came feel free and saying excuse us.

私は韓国に住んでた時を思い出した。
=I reminded the time when I lived in Korea.

近所同士でお互い行き来していた懐かしい記憶...
=The nostalgic memory of visiting each other neighborhood…

このハロウィン騒ぎで坐禅修行ははどっか消えてしまったので、
少し反省‼
=With this Halloween ado, the zen-meditation training is gone somewhere,
=I reflected on a bit!!
