Made from circles (Grade 5) part 4

Students from Class B.

It was very busy as we tried to finish.

“Teacher, look please”

Someone called over to stop me.

People were coming up with more unique new ideas to show me.

It is more difficult to use the smallcircles.

This turtle has lots of small circles.

It is difficult to show how good these 3D pieces of art are.

I always worry about how to try and show the volume, size and shape of the work.

This lion’s face has been made really well, and the way the mane has been made round the back is very nifty!

It wants to eat some meat!

Something is born (Grade 5) part 3

Work from Class C.

Gradually our animals started to take shape.

It’s a chameleon!

Look closely, there is an insect stuck on the tongue!

 It’s a turtle.

The eyes of the turtle come from a candy box.

I didn’t know this kind of candy, but it was very interesting to see how the design could be used like this.

It gets even better with a mouth being made from the edge of the candy.

It’s a chicken.

It looks like it may have not always been a chicken, but started to look like one with time.

An important part of this project is to think of a pattern for your materials. 思Sometimes even if the pattern doesn’t at first look nice, it can make a final effect which is quite thought-provoking.

First we make the pattern for the cirlces to come from.

Some people made this using paint and rollers.

With lots of people going overseas in the summer holidays there were materials which had come internationally being used.

Some people used a compass to draw circles and cur with scissors, some had a compass-cutter, and some drew around circular objects.A compass-cutter is very useful, and good to learn how to use it.

Some people were making circles which were really big, or circles which were not the same size.

You can see how big it is by looking at the scissors next to it. What can you use this for??

I was sometimes surprised by the choice of material!

Some people used colour copies of picture book covers, or used patterned paper.

It’s a new idea to use colour copies! It could be many things depending on how you look at it. Fantastic, Ms. K!

You can teach new ideas and techniques to the teacher in Art class!!

Now we can finally start using the stapler to make our forms.

The idea is to make something, but there are many different ways, and different things you can make.

There was someone who had cut a circle into the shape of a doughnut before they used it to make their form.

 This is very interesting!

Josui Street sketch (Grade 5) Part 11

Here are some of the highlights from the work by Grade 5.

As mentioned in last year’s blog the buildings on Josui Street have many similar looking brick walls.

How to show these different brick walls is one of the highlights of the work.

Some people carefully draw each brick one by one, others use a mass of colour to show the brick texture.

It’s a challenge to add more depth to the picture, but it becomes more interesting the more you care about it.

The picture works through clearness of lines, the beauty of the colours, and the skill of the artist.

All these things come together in our paintings.

The art room has lots of people working at different dates and times convenient to them.

Everyone is full of motivation!

It could be hard to concentrate and make your representation.

I wanted everyone to try to represent things in their won way. There were lots of ideas and questions.

I could see a twinkle in the student’s eyes even more than usual!
