Beautiful bag(Grade1)

2013年02月22日 08時30分00秒 | Grade 1

The japanese page is this page.

Students from class B.

We covered pieces of newspaper with coloured tape.

You could try to think of how the pattern would look on the bag when it was finished.

Some people had an explanation for their pattern.

There were some people who attached pieces of newspaper before covering with tape to try and make a big bag.

What is going to go into suck a big bag?! You need to think about what design you will have on such a big bag.

There were some people who finished their bags quickly.

Beautiful bag (Grade 1) part 2

2013年02月20日 16時30分00秒 | Grade 1

 Students from class B.

We started to make our bag after practicing before.

Everyone needed to think of what pattern they would use on their bag.

Putting the tape onto newspapers can be quite difficult.

Some people worked together.

Students needed to fix the join in the paper and also worked together waiting for the tape.

Making our art work is important, but so is this sort of cooperation.  The students in class B did a really great job.

Beautiful bag (grade 1)

2013年02月20日 12時00分00秒 | Grade 1

The japanese page is this page.

Students from class C.

In this project we will make a bag from tape and newspaper.

We first practiced how to make the bag.

This is the most difficult part of this activity.

How you fold the bag to make the finished bag is important.

”Teacher, I made a mistake” a couple of people said to me.

First you needed to fold the paper in half lengthways. Then you put tape along the sides.

Having done this you should have a little pocket.

As people managed to finished their paper pocket I could hear a little cheer around the room. Some people who didn’t make it work had ingenious ways of fixing their design.

There was an opportunity to make something different.

Here the pocket has become a triangle…

Or here there is a backpack type bag.

People try lots of new ideas when they get a chance like this!

Patterns with rings (Grade 1)

2013年02月14日 08時30分00秒 | Grade 1

The japanese page is this page.

Students from class A.

In Grade 3 we used rubber bands and looked for shapes and patterns.

For Grade 1 we did a similar activity, but using patterns with rings.

The idea is the same, but with metal rings they can open.

It changes the width of the shape.

We had the chance to share and exchange ideas as we were working in groups.

Some people connected the rings together to make new shapes.

Doing creative activities are a lot of fun.

Looking for different shapes and forms is a very important part of art class.

The teacher reads a newspaper (Grade 1) part 3

2013年02月13日 16時30分00秒 | Grade 1

The japanese page is this page.

 Work from class B.

Ms. SR’s work.

It is like Mr. Y might move at any moment.

It is his foot on it’s tip and the way he is looking which gives this impression.

His mouth is open a little, and it seems he might say something. What is he going to say?

Ms. MY’s work.

The facial expression shows he likes what he isreading.

He has found a happy article.

The way he is holding the paper in his hands matches the expression on hisface.

The background has bright colours and more detail in another picture.

Ms. SY’s work.

It is sometimesdifficult for lower grade students to draw someone from the side.

You can see the shape of the foot from the side.

There is a very good overlap of the subject and the background. Fantastic!
