To whom it may concern,
Global freshwater systems on the Earth are under huge threat from the resent climate change and rapid socio-economical transformations, and immediate actions are required to conserve them for future generations and ecosystems. However, one of the key issues is that we do not have sufficient opportunities for interdisciplinary, intergenerational, and international conversation on water crisis. It is essential to share our views and experiences to come up with a solution and communicate them to the general public.
As we approach the 100th year of the International Society of Limnology (SIL), we would like to call out for veteran and future limnologists including junior students to share their views and opinions on global water crisis. Our goal is to better understand the situation through different perspectives and come up with solutions to protect freshwaters for 100s of years to go. In order to achieve this, we are providing the platform of a standard session, “Open Dialogue on World Water Issues and Solutions across Generations” at SIL 100 held in Berlin, Germany, August 2022. For more information about SIL 100, please refer to the following website: https://www.sil2022.org/program/sessions/
For our session, we would like to invite individuals with different backgrounds from around the world to give us an oral presentation or an e-poster presentation. The presentations will be focused on the presenter’s views on current freshwater problems and potential solutions to them. At this moment, we would like to know who are interested in this session. If you would like to take part in our session, please reply to this email with a title and an abstract (free format) for your presentation so that we can make further decision. Please also distribute this message to anyone around you who will be willing to join this dialogue and share their idea.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
