「ライオンと兎」（204）『イソップ寓話集』岩波文庫：欲張りすぎると、損をする

ライオンが、たまたま、寝ているウサギを見つけた。
ウサギを食べようと、ライオンが思ったとき、鹿が通りかかる。
そこで、ライオンは鹿を追いかけるが、結局、つかまらなかった。鹿は逃げ去った。
ライオンは、ウサギの所にもどってきた。しかしウサギも、逃げたあとだった。
教訓：程々の利益で満足するのがよい。欲張りすぎると、損をする。

《感想》
欲張りすぎは、いけない。確実に手にはいる利益を、まず確定する。
「虎穴に入らずんば虎児を得ず」というが、これは欲張りでなく、胆力だ。

　A LION AND A HARE
A lion happened to find a sleeping hare.
While the lion intended to eat the hare, it saw a deer passing by.
Then the lion began to pursue the deer, but in vain after all. The deer ran away.
The lion came back to the hare. However, the hare already ran away too.
THE LESSON: You should be satisfied with an adequate profit. Greediness makes you lose.
