打者は、審判にどうすればいいのか、尋ねる。
Atlanta moved on through the order, with Venditte facing righties right-handed and lefties left-handed, until a situation popped up with switch-hitter Brooks Conrad stepping up to the plate.
On his way there, Conrad asked home-plate umpire Mike Reilly, "How do I do this?" according to catcher Jorge Posada.
"I was pacing around the dugout trying to figure out what I was supposed to do," Conrad said. "I went up there left-handed and then if he would have asked to pitch left-handed,
I would have turned around and gone right-handed. So I took both helmets and both bats up there."
Reilly came prepared, armed with the so-called "Pat Venditte Rules" that the Professional Baseball Umpire Corporation (PBUC) instituted in the Minor Leagues after Venditte's debut with the Class A Staten Island Yankees in 2008.
The pitcher must visually declare which hand he intends to pitch with, and Venditte raised his right hand on the mound. Conrad stepped in and hit a ground ball to first base, ending Venditte's 1 1/3 innings of one-run, two-hit relief, with a walk.

早くMLBに上がって欲しいものだ。
マイナー・リーグでは抑えをやっているので、リベラの後釜で活躍したら面白い。
