Air Chief Marshal Curtis LeMay set off the Tokyo Air Raid.
Japanese houses are made of wood and paper.
He had incendiary bombs made in large quantities.
These were later known as napalm bombs.
He also thought that to reduce Japan's strength, he would have to kill the women and children on the mainland.
After the war, he said, "I am glad we won. If we had lost, I would have been tried as a war criminal without question."
Kubo
Japan awarded the Grand Cordon of the Rising Sun, First Class, to such a man.
When I learned of this, I really felt that this country was in ruins.
