或る位置
樹の位置――それは
偶然が決めたものだろう。
樹高、幹周り、枝の張り方――それは
樹自身が決めたものだろう。
地上からは見えない根の土の抱き方も。
ある位置に
同意したのではない。
同意するより先に
浅い根はまず土を掴まねばならなかった。
その樹に私は尋ねる。
偶然が決めた君の位置を
君はどのように受け入れたか？
樹から答は返ってこない。
過ぎた歳月をすべて樹形で語り
来歴の総量だけで立ち
それ以外を語らない樹。
（剛直で気むづかしい幹、しかし梢では
風や光と遊ぶ賑やかな葉のきらめき）
――反歌
枝を伸べ根を深めつつ己が位置うべないゆくや樹々の明け暮れ
《感想》
君が、何であるか、君は選べない。
君は、ある位置に、生れる。
全く運命だ。
そこで君は育ち、君になる。
君の諸習慣は、そこで作られる。
君の欲望は、その諸習慣とともに増殖していく。
もちろん君には自発性があり、固有の感情・欲望・意図も、展開させていく。
かくて樹の位置は偶然が決め、それに同意したわけでなくても、その位置を受け入れ、君は生きていく。
環境と自発性の関係の問題だ！
君の固有の感情・欲望・意図の展開が、思惟を含めつつ、君の心的生活だ。
A Certain Location
A location of a tree――It is perhaps decided by chance.
Hight, thickness, and boughs of the tree――These are perhaps decided by the tree itself.
So is the way how root of the tree holds the soil that cannot be seen from the surface of the ground.
The tree doesn’t affirm its location.
Before it affirms its location, it has to hold the soil at first by its shallowly extending root.
I ask the tree, “How do you accept your location that is decided by chance?”
The tree doesn’t answer.
The tree shows its passed years as a whole by its shape.
And it stands bearing the burden of the past it has experienced.
The tree says nothing except that.
(Its trunk is upright, and difficult.
However, at its boughs, its leaves are pleasurably brilliant playing with wind and light.)

Exteding its boughs, deepening its root, and accepting its location, trees live day and night.
