隊員総会終了 The Annual Meeting of the Volunteers had Finished

今週月曜日から隊員総会があり、その準備とか関連行事で毎日忙しく、ブログを更新する精神的ゆとりがありませんでした

というわけで5日ぶりの更新です

今日は朝9時からドミトリー（隊員連絡所）に集合して、最後のイベントであるドミトリーの大掃除でした

ドミトリーは地方から上京してきた隊員たちで満室の状態ですので、ガダルカナルの地方隊員K君が私の家に泊まりこんでいます

ドミトリーの掃除以外に、1997年に任期満了目前に事故死された隊員のお墓の掃除もしますので、車を持っている私と、K君のふたりで行ってきました

箒で墓石に積もった土や枯れ草を取り除き、周りの草むしりをしたうえで、水をかけて墓石を洗います

約1時間、炎天下の作業でしたが、ドミトリーの屋内で汗をかくよりも気持ちがよかったかもしれません

明日私は職場に復帰して、K君は健康診断のため病院に行きますので、私といっしょに出勤します

あすの夜は、1月早々に任期満了で帰国する5名の隊員の送別会があります

 

Since Monday this week the annual meeting of JICA volunteers had been held and I was so busy for the preparation and related programs of the meeting.

So it is the first time update since 5 days ago.

Today the “cleaning up of the dormitory” that was the final program of the meeting was held from 9:00am.

The dormitory was full house of the volunteers working at provincial facilities and a JOCV K who was working at the suburbs of Guadalcanal had been stayed in my house during the meeting.

The cleaning up of the cemetery of JOCV who had died just before finishing his term in 1997 was included in the program.

I have a car and I and K had gone there and cleaned it.

Removing the soil and dead grasses we wed the weeds around the gravestone and we washed it.

It was a work of one hour under the hard sunshine but possibly it was feeling better than getting sweat with dust in the building of the dormitory.

Tomorrow I will be back to the work and K will go to the hospital for health check and we will go out together.

In the evening the farewell party is scheduled for five volunteers who will finish their term at the beginning of January.
