文明のターンテーブルThe Turntable of Civilization

日本の時間、世界の時間。
The time of Japan, the time of the world

The China is neither a great people nor is there any “revival” underway.

This time, they’re not only killing people — they’re also killing the world economy.
China is neither a great people nor is there any “revival” underway.
They should recognize their own foolishness, close their borders, and sit quietly.
March 6, 2020
The following is from the final column of Masayuki Takayama in the issue of Shukan Shincho released today. People around the world will once again recognize that he is the one and only journalist of the postwar era.

What I Want to Say to Wuhan
The novel coronavirus appears to be a true full model change. The old version, SARS, which spread two decades ago, was transmitted from bats to humans via civet cats.
Human-to-human transmission occurred via droplets or fecal-oral infection.
In Hong Kong, where many deaths occurred, the latter was identified as the cause.
One such case involved a spreader living on the upper floors of a high-rise apartment.
He didn’t fling feces into the air — he flushed them in the toilet.
However, part of the waste was released through the ventilation ducts from the pipes.
As a result, people enjoying the breeze on balconies downwind were hit with droplets.
When they mapped infection cases, they formed a clear fan shape.

The Wuhan virus resembles SARS.
Initially, it was thought to have come from bats or pangolins sold at the Wuhan seafood market.
But its symptoms and contagiousness differed.
It was thus designated a “new” virus.
Its spike proteins latch onto human cells in a manner strikingly similar to HIV, and the DNA sequence is also close.
This is why HIV drugs were suddenly introduced.

There are stranger points still.
In Guangzhou, 14% of recovered patients reportedly relapsed.
Even in Osaka, a Chinese national re-infected after discharge.
Humans don’t catch the same disease twice once cured — antibodies are formed.
This is medical common sense.
That’s why antibody therapies using recovered patients’ plasma exist.
But they don’t seem to work on the Wuhan virus.

When something occurs that nature cannot explain, one begins to suspect a man-made bioweapon.
If artificial, even impossible reinfections can be explained — by a “Volkswagen method.”
Volkswagen devised tricks to show “normal” emissions during inspections.
So too, the virus could be hiding during testing — that’s the theory.

The University of Delhi was first to suggest that “someone combined coronavirus and HIV.”
That “someone” was likely Dr. Shi Zhengli of Wuhan’s P4 Lab.
At UNC, she had studied chimeric viruses by inserting genes into coronaviruses.
She continued this work upon returning to China at “P4,” 16 km from the Wuhan market.

Not just India — even a professor in Guangzhou (her academic neighbor) suggested a “leak” from the Wuhan Disease Center.
She was furious.
Her team published in Nature that the virus was 96% identical to that of Yunnan bats.
She insisted again: “This new virus is nature’s punishment for mankind’s foolish and uncivilized habit of eating wild animals and has nothing to do with my P4 lab.”
She added: “To those who believe irresponsible media and Indian scientists’ half-baked analysis, I say: shut your filthy mouths.”

Clearly enraged — but I must object to her words.
The “foolish and uncivilized habit” of eating civet cats, bats, and pangolins isn’t “mankind’s.”
It’s only the Chinese who’ve committed these barbaric acts.
They once ate rats and spawned the plague that nearly destroyed Europe.
In the last century, they spread the Hong Kong flu.
This century, they gave us SARS — killing thousands.
And now they’re killing people and the global economy.
China is not a great people, and there is no “revival.”
Recognize your own folly, close your nation, and stay quiet.
