Since the outbreak of the new coronavirus scare, Chinese telecoms giant Huawei prohibited under the U.S. Defense Authorization Act, and its associates have been working on medical assistance.
On April 4, the governor of New York made headlines in the United States when he tweeted, "Thank you to the Chinese government, Jack Ma and Cai Chongxin," as 1,000 ventilators given to him by the Chinese government arrived at JFK airport.
Mr. Jack Ma is the founder of Alibaba, Mr. Cai Chongxin is the Vice Chairman of Alibaba and Mr. Son Masayoshi's right-hand man. Both are ecosystem companies of Chinese telecom giant Huawei, which is banned under the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act.
At the time, Sharp was making headlines in Japan for starting to produce masks, but Sharp was already a foreign-owned subsidiary of Taiwan's Foxconn Technology Group.
It became a hot topic in Japan when just when I thought it was time for Softbank to make a move in Japan.
Son tweeted that he could urgently procure medical face shields and medical glasses, to which Osaka Governor Hirofumi Yoshimura replied, 'I would be happy to let Osaka Prefecture buy them.'
It was completely ignoring the fact that a company in Osaka wrote to Governor Yoshimura on Twitter that it had 130,000 pieces of protective clothing on hand.
The Osaka Smart City collaborator, SoftBank's Son, was the one who greeted him, saying, 'Hi Son, nice to meet you.'
Some have called it 'shameless.'
The common denominator between SoftBank, Alibaba, Sharp, Foxconn, and Cai Chongxin in this medical support is that they all have Huawei in the background.
Huawei's image has been tarnished in Japan and the U.S. since its founder's daughter, Vice Chairman and CFO Meng Manzhou, was indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice, so Huawei has embarked on a P.R. strategy, but there's a backstory to this.
This article continues.
