この頃、私は、朝日新聞の実態を１００％は知らずに購読していた。
At that time, I was still subscribing to the Asahi Shimbun, unaware of the full extent of its true nature.

Memo from August 26: (2) Especially Japanese TV...
特に、日本のＴＶは、ニュース報道において政治を報道する際は常に対論を…反対論と言っても良い…並列させる事が必要だ。
Especially when it comes to Japanese television news, it is essential that political reporting always includes a counterargument—or perhaps more directly, an opposing view—alongside the original.
キャスターの類は余分に喋る必要はない。
Anchors and hosts have no need to add superfluous commentary.
例えば、検察がリークした事象に対して正反対の態度を為す者、その意見を併記して…ＴＶで併記して報道する。
For example, if prosecutors leak a story, the TV broadcast must also feature the opinion of someone who completely opposes that narrative.
その対論を探して来るのが、ジャーナリストであるはずのキャスターという者の仕事だろう。
Finding and presenting such opposing views—that should be the job of the journalists and anchors.
そうでなければ、そこらのワイドショーの司会と何ら変わりはしない。
Otherwise, there’s no difference between them and the hosts of tabloid talk shows.
私が、何故こういう事を言うかといえば、そういう事を…当たり前の事をきちんとしなければ、私達の国は、いつまで経っても、兄ちゃんや姉ちゃんのような…何の勉強もしていない兄ちゃんや姉ちゃんのような類の、テレビの画面の中の姉ちゃんや兄ちゃんのコメントで動いていくなどという、馬鹿な事を続けていくからだ。
Why do I say such things? Because if we don’t enforce this most basic of journalistic standards, then our country will continue to be led by nothing more than offhanded comments from uneducated “brothers and sisters” on the TV screen—those talking heads who have no proper background or expertise.
日本の国にとって重要だという事は、世界の国にとって重要だということだ…それが日本のポジションなのである。
What is important for Japan is, by extension, important for the world. That is Japan’s position on the global stage.
「文明のターンテーブル」が回った国なのだ、日本は！
Japan is a country that has turned the turntable of civilization.
その国の政治が、そんな事ではもう駄目なのだと言う事を、日本中の全国民が（その通り、）と、勉強したんじゃないか。
The Japanese people, the entire nation, learned a hard lesson: That the politics of this country can no longer be left to such irresponsibility.
菅直人に功績があったとすれば、それぐらいのものだろう。
If Naoto Kan left behind any kind of legacy, it’s that.
それぐらい処か、それほどに酷い、甚大なマイナスをもたらした強烈な教訓だったはずだ。
Rather, that lesson itself—so bitter and costly—was his legacy.
読者の方はご存じのように、私は、もう何もかも見えている、見えて、うんざりして、驚いて呆れ返っている。
As my readers already know, I see everything now. I see it all, and I’m sickened, shocked, and dumbfounded.
例えば、朝日新聞の重鎮論説委員達が、こんな事をずっとこの３０年超やり続けてきたのかと思えば…こんな事とはどんな事かと言えば、弓削道鏡まがいの事だ。
Take, for instance, the senior editorial writers at the Asahi Shimbun. If you ask what kind of things they’ve been doing for over thirty years, it’s nothing short of what can only be described as Yuge Dōkyō-like behavior.
己らが望む人間を、権力者に仕立てようとし続けてきた歴史、といっても過言ではないのだ。
In other words, it’s not an exaggeration to say that they’ve spent decades trying to elevate their desired individuals into positions of power.
今、例えばクーデターのような物が必要であるとすれば、朝日新聞こそ、それが必要だろうと思うのだ。
If something like a coup is needed in this country today, then it is the Asahi Shimbun that needs it most.
朝日新聞の社内で、こういう政治部上がりの、記者クラブで重鎮と呼ばれて、会社の重鎮となって、朝日新聞社の顔たる社説を握り、世論を操作して来た、この人達。
These men—political desk veterans hailed as "heavyweights" in the press clubs, who climbed the ranks to become the de facto faces of the Asahi Shimbun and control its editorials—
この連中を真っ当な社員達が、駆逐しない限り、朝日新聞というのは、私が以前にも予言した通り、パンナメ、日航と同じ道を歩むだろう。
Unless the honest employees within the company rise up and purge these figures, the Asahi Shimbun will follow the same path I previously predicted: the same fate as Pan Am or Japan Airlines.
こういう事に関しての、私の予言は、ほぼ完璧に当たるのである。
And let me say this: When it comes to matters like this, my predictions are almost always right.
朝日新聞（に限らず）日本のマスメディアの人達よ、心した方がよろしい。
To those in Japan's mass media—not just the Asahi—you would do well to take this to heart.
