さらにいえば、「魯迅」に関する世の中の常識ともなっているとすらいえる。　

ということはつまり、「人が人を喰う」中国社会の体質と、その背後に潜む「卑怯で残忍な」中国人の国民性に洞察のメスを入れて、白日の下に晒したことこそが、中国の近代文学を代表する魯迅という作家の生涯の最大の仕事であり、その最大の功績だと、多くの人びとが認識しているということでもあろう。

中国人が自己認識を深めた「重要なる他者」とは　

魯迅が「孔乙己」や「阿Ｑ正伝」において「卑怯にして残忍な人間精神」の持ち主として描いたのは、「社会の異端」としてのごろつきや一部の権力者ではなく、普通の労働者や村人であった点はとくに注目すべきであろう。

つまり魯迅から見れば卑怯にして残忍なのは、一部の特別な中国人だけではないということだ。

中国の一般民衆、すなわち中国国民の精神構造の深いところに巣食う、中国人の国民性そのものなのである。
