しかし、震災のときには被災者が入浴できる貴重な場所となったほか、今後もお年寄りから子ども連れまで世代を超えた交流の場となることが期待されるとして、神戸市は、銭湯が存続できるよう支援することにしました。

具体的には、ボイラーや浴室を改修したり、バリアフリー化のためにスロープや手すりを取り付けたりする費用に対し、１５０万円を上限に補助します。この事業は、来月から始まることになっていて、今年度の補正予算には、１５００万円の事業費が盛り込まれました。

神戸市浴場組合連合会の会長で、兵庫区の「たちばな湯」を経営する丸岡伸年さんは「ボイラーの入れ替えには、多額の費用がかかるので、こうした補助があればなんとか続けていこうという経営者が増えると思う。銭湯文化をもう一度盛り上げたい」と話しています。
