このため、国の運輸安全委員会は重大な事故につながるおそれがあったとして重大インシデントに指定し、１２日夕方、事故調査官３人を車両がある名古屋駅に派遣し、調査を始めました。

新幹線が止まっているＪＲ名古屋駅のホームでは、１２日夜、国の運輸安全委員会の事故調査官とＪＲの担当者らが、亀裂が見つかった１３号車の台車などにライトを当てて詳しい状況を調べていました。

運輸安全委員会によりますと、平成１３年に事故調査委員会ができてから、新幹線の事故は、新潟県中越地震で起きた上越新幹線の脱線や東日本大震災での東北新幹線の脱線など合わせて５件ありますが、重大な事故につながるおそれがあったとして重大インシデントに指定されたのは初めてだということです。
トラブルの経緯
ＪＲ西日本によりますと、トラブルがあったのは博多駅を１１日、午後１時３３分に出発した東京駅に向かう「のぞみ３４号」でした。
