Al Gore, the former American vice-president turned environmental champion, has become a partner at US private equity group Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers.
アル・ゴア元副大統領。
転じて環境保護チャンピオン。
彼はアメリカのプライベート・エクイティ・グループ、クライナー・パーキンス・コーフィールド&バイヤーズ（KPCB）のパートナーに就任した。
Mr Gore's move comes as a result of a 'green' investment collaboration between KPCB and Generation Investment Management of which he is chairman and co-founder.
ゴア氏のこの行動は、KPCBと、彼が会長兼共同創立者のジェネレーション・インベストメント・マネジメントとの「グリーン」投資コラボの結果である。
The two groups plan to find, fund and accelerate green business, technology and policy solutions with potential to help solve the current climate change crisis.
現在の気候変動危機の解決を助ける可能性を持つ、グリーンな商売、技術、政治解決策を発見し、資金調達し、加速することを両グループは計画。
Their work will span sectors such as renewable energy technologies, building efficiency, cleaner fossil energy, sustainable agriculture and carbon markets.

Mr Gore has announced that his entire salary as partner at KPCB will be donated directly to the Alliance for Climate Protection – the non-partisan foundation he chairs.
KPCBパートナーとしての全給与は、自分が会長を務める無党派の基金、気候保護同盟に直接寄付される、とゴア氏は発表している。
Mr Gore said, "This alliance brings together world-class business talent to focus on solving the climate crisis.

Earlier this year, Mr Gore's Oscar-winning environmental documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, helped the man who lost a Presidential election to George W Bush win a Nobel Peace Prize thanks to its warnings over rising sea levels.
今年先には、ゴア氏のオスカー受賞環境ドキュメンタリー作品『不都合な真実』が、このジョージ・ブッシュに大統領選で敗北を帰した男が、海面上昇警告のおかげでノーベル賞を受賞するのを助けた。

Generation co-founder and managing partner David Blook said: "There is a significant gap between the capital needed and the capital currently deployed to create enduring solutions to the climate crisis. To address this financing gap will require the efforts of many players, including entrepreneurial ventures, multinational businesses, governments, multilaterals and investors.
ジェネレーション社の共同創立者でありマネジング・パートナーのデイヴィッド・ブルックはこう言った。
