北京の55日 予告編
1963年に製作・公開された上映時間160分の米国映画です。清朝末期に義和団の乱Tが起こり、首都北京に義和団が押し寄せて、外国人居留区が包囲されて11か国の居留民が籠城して55日間を戦った物語を描いています。主演はチャールトン・ハストン、伊丹十三も出演しました。この排外運動である義和団の乱は清の植民地化を一層進めました。事件後,中国 東北部地方をめぐって日露の対立は深まり、日露戦争が勃発しました。
この映画の主題歌”55 Days At Peking”(北京の55日)を歌ったのが、The Brothers Fourです。1963年シングルをリリース、大ヒットしました。曲のイントロ部の「ボム-ボム-ボム」はよく口づさみました。また、出だしの歌詞の「The year was 1900」で義和団の乱の年号を覚えました。日本上映に合わせ日本でも克美しげるのCoverシングルがリリースされました。何と、B面は同じ時期に放送が開始された「エイト・マン」が入っています。確か、番組の提供は「のりたま」の丸美屋だったと思います。
