「守ってあげたい」は、松任谷由実（ﾕｰﾐﾝ） の17枚目のｼﾝｸﾞﾙ。1981年6月21日に東芝EMIからﾘﾘｰｽされました。The Lovin' Spoonful（ﾗｳﾞｨﾝ･ｽﾌﾟｰﾝﾌﾙ)の"You Didn't Have to Be So Nice（邦題：うれしいあの娘)"のAstrud Gilberto '(ｱｽﾄﾗｯﾄﾞ-ｼﾞﾙﾍﾞﾙﾄ)のｶﾊﾞｰ・ﾊﾞｰｼﾞｮﾝに触発されて書かれました。 ｵﾘｺﾝﾁｬｰﾄの登場週数は29週、ﾁｬｰﾄ最高順位は週間2位、累計69.5万枚のｾｰﾙｽを記録しました。

また、曲には英詩"You Don't Have To Worry"がつけられ、The Brothers Four ‎は1990年ｱﾙﾊﾑ、“Flowers & Green”に1976年ﾘﾘｰｽの「あの日にかえりたい」に次ぐ彼女の2曲目の曲として取り上げました。そして、Essenceは1996年､ｼﾝｸﾞﾙをR&B/ｿｳﾙｼﾝｶﾞｰのLeNora Jaye（ﾚﾉﾗ･ｼﾞｪｲ）は2009年はｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ" Ma Cherie -Graduation Photo"に収録しています。
