The Sankei Shimbun is the most decent newspaper, not only in Japan but also in the world today.
Subscribers must have been acutely aware of the correctness of my assessment when they read this morning's Sankei Shimbun.
The emphasis in the sentence, except for the headline, is mine.
Former comfort women: 'Anti-Japanese rallies teach hatred'; sharp criticism of South Korean support group
[Seoul: Takahiro Namura]
A former South Korean comfort woman is making waves by strongly criticizing the weekly protest rally against the Japanese government in front of the Japanese embassy in Seoul.
The Comfort Woman support group Justice Memory Solidarity for the Resolution of the Japanese Military Sexual Slavery Issue (Justice Federation) organizes the rally.
Lee Yong-soo, 91, criticized the Justice League.
According to South Korean media, Lee held a press conference on the 7th in Daegu, in the southeastern part of the country.
She said of the rally in front of the Japanese embassy, 'The students are spending precious money and time, but the rally is teaching them hate,' and 'The rally should be eliminated because it does not affect the students for good.
She also criticized the students for not knowing where the money raised by the students attending the rally would be used. She indicated her intention not to participate in future rallies.
Lee also denied that Meehyang Yoon, 55, the former president of the Justice League and first elected in the April general election, told the Korean media that he was supported by Lee, saying it was "all bullshit.
She accused Yoon of not being a member of the National Assembly, saying that the donations and funds should be used to comfort women victims, but he has never used them in that way.
Ms. Lee is also known in the United States for her repeated criticism of Japan regarding comfort women.
And for hugging Mr. Trump at a dinner party at the South Korean presidential office when U.S. President Donald Trump visited South Korea in November 2017.
In an interview with a Korean magazine in 2015, Ms. Lee also said of the Korean Paratroopers Affairs Council (paratroopers' Association), the predecessor of the Justice League, 'It refuses to hold talks with Japan without listening to the opinions of the parties (former comfort women),'
And 'If you hold protests every week, your character and attitude will be wrong. Ms. Leee once criticized the fact that 'the people in the paratroopers seem to be on the side of the fighters.'
She also reiterated her criticism that 'the CSWC issued a collection of testimonies that differed from the facts.
It is without confirming them with her.
Ms. Yoon, who Ms. Lee criticized, claimed on the Internet that 'Ms. Lee's memory has changed [from before]' and so on.
Criticism of Ms. Yoon, who has continued her anti-Japanese activities on the issue of comfort women, is persistent, especially among conservatives, who say she has used former comfort women.
With direct criticism from former comfort women, Yoon's suspicions will likely continue to smoke.
