日本の時間、世界の時間。
The time of Japan, the time of the world

Why don't you recall the dubious history of the media?

The following is from the late Mr. Nishibe Susumu's book "The Mass Media Will Kill the Nation."
All Japanese citizens who can read the printed word must now head to their nearest bookstore to subscribe.
The rest of the world will know from my translation that the same is true of the mass media in your country.
The following is a continuation of the previous chapter.
A sin that indicated Japanese cultural regression
Why does the Japanese not remember that exactly?
Why don't you recall the dubious history of the media?
Although we are suffering from this kind of cultural amnesia, we can not say that it is the arrival of the advanced information society.
Because it is not just information, but information, including value and meaning, is essential.
Information that does not contain meaning or value is just a symbol.
And to know what meaning and value the information have, we can not but judge in light of those accumulations in the past.
Since we are in a state of extreme amnesia about the past, we expect only a so-called symbolic moment of stimulation where information passing by is imminent or exciting.
A symbol is a code with no meaning, and it is a robot, not a human, that responds to such a thing.
Modern society has a view as if it had entered the era of "Domination by a sign" or "semi-ocracy."
It is said not only in Japan but also in Western society.
Meanings and values washed away, and only symbols that carry a few definitions and benefits are stuck in our minds.
The era of semi-democracy is indeed coming.
But we are not prepared to commit ourselves to semi-ocracy.
If you prepared for it, why did you move around the meaning and value of the childhood of the dimension exchanged in the elementary school's homeroom, such as 'easy profit not forgiven,' regarding the Recruit event? Hm?
If it were impossible to get out of the age of 'Domination by sign,' it would have been a more technical and fancier way of expressing things, for example, using sophisticated parody.
We have that expressive ability.
But we did not.
We only tried to say that it is a semi-ocracy, and it isn't possible to separate from the dimension of meaning and universe of a value actual.
Even so, we neglected our efforts to discover and invent meaning and value in our minds.
So, they brought an old bond of an old chest and regressed in a childish meaning and value such as 'we don't allow an easy profit.'
In that sense, the Recruit case was a big and funny event that clearly shows us the cultural regression of Japanese people.
In the expression activity, as the role of sign and symbol increases, the meaning and value become worse. Finally, the post-war democratic platitudes, the anti-power, is screamed while knowing that it is a blank word.
This section continues.
