The following is from a special interview between Masayuki Takayama and Masu Kiyoshi, a media watcher for the World Daily News, which appears in the current issue of the monthly magazine Hanada, pp. 196-202.
It is a must-read not only for Japanese citizens but also for people around the world.
Japanese citizens must go to their nearest bookstore to subscribe to it right now.
I'll let the rest of the world know as much as I can.
Biggest loss since inception
God's punishment for Asahi for not apologizing for its false articles.
It was worth it to keep saying, "The Asahi Shimbun is evil!"
Unprecedentedly large deficit
Masu
I am honored to have this conversation with you, Mr. Takayama.
Takayama
It's my pleasure.
You have written a sharply critical article about Asahi.
Masu
Yes, I have. I have been writing a weekly newspaper review for the World Daily News for more than 25 years.
It's a column called "Media Watch" covering all the major newspapers, but I tend to watch Asahi because of its unusual angle and bias.
In that sense, I am an avid Asahi reader (laughs).
Takayama
It reported that Asahi's deficit had reached 44.1 billion yen, the largest since the company was founded.
Masu
I think it is justified.
I am deeply moved by the fact that the great Asahi has fallen so far.
Takayama
If you read "Asahi Shimbun no Revelation" (Takarajimasya Shinsho), you will find that Asahi's reporters are highly praised.
But there are no good reporters.
Asahi's reporter does not interview but writes with speculation and suspicion. It's not an article but a commentary.
Strangely, people accepted it.
Another thing is that Asahi is imprinted with the mindset of "guiding the foolish masses for good."
Whenever the Japanese think they are on the right, they always say that they are on the left.
They pose that the wise are different from the foolish masses.
Unlike those of China and Korea, the people of Japan have a high cultural level of people and are highly educated.
They are different in quality from the "masses," as Ortega and others call them.
The Asahi Shimbun is too stupid to understand that.
