Reader's Digest 2月号の記事 "staying alive - Neuroscience is redrawing the boundaries of life and death" からの引用です。
Although Owen contends that the CRS-R is an extremely useful rubric, he cautions that there are two flaws in the way we currently evaluate patients. First, studies have shown that human observation can be wrong up to 40% of the time.
CRS-RはComa Recovery Scale-Revisedの略で、植物人間のように昏睡状態の人の脳の回復状態を示す指標の事です。私が気になったのは "rubric" です。辞書で調べます。
・Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary: a guide listing specific criteria for grading or scoring academic papers, projects, or tests
・Cambridge English Dictionary: a set of instructions, especially on an exam paper, usually printed in a different style or colour: Read/Follow the rubric carefully.
・Vocabulary.com: A rubric is a heading or a category in a chart, or a rule of conduct. A teacher's grading rubrics may include participation, homework completion, tests, quizzes, and papers.
A rubric can also mean a rule or a procedure. If you use "might makes right" as the rubric for the formation of a list of classroom rules, you'll have a different-feeling classroom culture than if your rubric is "everyone deserves respect."
