Students from class C.

We are putting the finishing touches onto our work for Culture Day.

 You need to put the paint on carefully.

 Concentrating, and using the advice of Ms. T we worked hard to put the paint in the right place.

We tried many different colours in our palette.

You could use the colours you liked.

The colours shine out from the black paper.

Some people are surprised at how it appears different to painting onto white.

You rub down onto the print.

You make full use of your fingers to push each part of the print.

The turning point! The moment of truth!!

One of the nice things about prints is how the image can seem to blur a little.

Students from Grade 5.

As the different work was brought together a town was made.

 In front of each town was a sheet to write coments.

“Ahh, I see..”

“Wow, wow, loot at this!”

Excited voices said as time went past quickly while we looked at work.

You need to look carefully in each corner.

The image gives an atmosphere.

 You feel that the finished piece is more than the original parts.

 The power of a group is more than of an individual…

 It’s a garden. You need to look at the colours and shapes.

 

There also seems to be a rollercoaster going round this town!

The girls write which parts they like.

There is a lot of fun in this work.

 

There is a little park.

It seemed the children ‘played’ happily.

Students from Class A.

We were trying to put together the work made in the first semester.

The children were very happy.

”I love this kind of thing.

” Ahh, we did this in the 3rd year and I really likes it”.

The children seem to enjoy bringing their work together.

 I was wondering if the things we have made would come together.

Some groups tried to decide on a theme for the ‘city’ which they were going to make.

Some of the buildings had a twist.

We need to think about the balance of the height of the different buildings.

The first person to dare cut the foundations!

Features and themes for each group started to develop.

 

The final image was the japan.

Next, to pick an animal.

This group wanted to build a fence (an enclosure).

There were also lots of different flower gardens.

 There was also a fountain!

 “ I wish there was a town like this, I want to live there!”

Someone said.

Students from Class A.

People started to print to see what appeared from where they had chiseled.

We can check the wood print we have made using black.

On the right is the image from the woodblock print, on the left is the print on black.

Using technology we can spend less time carving prints.

Drawing a picture, and using a print has made these pictures.

 

We had to clean up a lot of wood chips after this activity.

The Art room was very clean afterwards.

I was impressed by how well everyone worked to clean the room.

Art is not just about drawing.

We also need to work to prepare and clean afterwards.

I was impressed at how well the students did this together.

Students from class A.

We did an activity to look at what everyone had drawn in their first sketch.

 As usual people are able to say their comments and opinions on the work.

“I’m impressed”  “This is not so good?”

Feedback was given between people, and more popular work attracted a crowd.

 We will use a chisel to cut our image from now.

There are not many opportunities to use the chisels, and this was the first time for many people. I made them promise 3 things.

①   Don’t talk when you are using the chisel.

②   Only have the things you need on your table

③  Use correct posture.

It is important to use the chisel correctly. It is one of the commonest injuries in Elementary schools.

People started to think more about their posture.

After having a break we need to think about how to use the chisel correctly again.

It’s important to avoid getting injured!
