文明のターンテーブルThe Turntable of Civilization

日本の時間、世界の時間。
The time of Japan, the time of the world

To this point, I would have to say that it has gone beyond ideals and is almost like a religion

I had already mentioned that I was astonished when Mr. Taishi Sugiyama's article appeared in the Sankei Shimbun the other day.
The following is from a feature article in the current issue of the monthly magazine WiLL titled "Inviting a crisis in Japan, The Decarbonization Trap - China behind it," which features a conversation between Yoshiko Sakurai and Daishi Sugiyama, Research Director of the Canon Institute for Global Studies.
It is a must-read not only for the Japanese people but for people all over the world.
As a friend of mine, who is an avid reader, likes to say, "There is nothing cheaper than a book," and these monthly magazines are a perfect demonstration of that every month.
It is a miracle that for the price of one lunch, it can get a complete picture of Japan's realities and truths and the world.
I will let the world know as much as I can.
Is it okay to "don't talk about human rights and security" in return for "cooperating with global warming countermeasures"?
The Obama Administration's Big Failure
Environmental Movement = Religion?
Sugiyama
Until a decade or so ago, global warming was a minor topic that only environmentalists dealt with.
However, the situation has changed drastically, and now radical environmental activists have succeeded in taking over politics in Japan, the U.S., and Europe.
Along with protecting the rights of minorities such as LGBT and immigrants, the fight against global warming is now firmly embedded in the policies of the left.
The mainstream media in Europe is also strongly liberal, preaching day after day to take action against global warming now.
The television plays on people's fears with the Christian story that "nature is angry at mankind's selfish behavior," with images of natural disasters that are actually unrelated to global warming.
The U.S. and Japan are importing such environmental movements originating in Europe.
Sakurai
The "Green New Deal" set forth by radical leftists such as Ocasio-Cortez of the Democratic Party of Japan includes restrictions on the use of airplanes, which emit large amounts of CO2.
But what do they really think about business and the economy?
To this point, I would have to say that it has gone beyond ideals and is almost like a religion.
Sugiyama
First, global warming is not a reason to justify the "zero CO2" policy, which will have a huge negative impact on the economy.
It has been reported that global warming is causing frequent typhoons, heavy rains, and other disasters, but this is fake news that can be easily denied by looking at observation data.
In a survey by the View Institute, a US think tank, 84% of Democrat supporters and 27% of Republican supporters said global warming is a significant threat to the US.
Republican supporters in the U.S., not just Trump, know that global warming is not a serious problem, and the debate in Congress and the media is based on data.
In Japan, however, neither conservatives nor liberals are questioning global warming per se. Ministries and agencies have their own budgets for global warming measures, and some companies flock to the subsidies.
Researchers have a vested interest in using government funds to produce "results" and publish papers saying that global warming will cause disasters.
This article continues.
