変形性関節症

　最近指や手首の不調を感じていて、夜間痛みで目が覚めることがあったのですが、夕べは我慢できずに起きて痛み止めのロキソプロフェンを飲み湿布をはってから寝ました。
今朝クリニックで診察してもらうと、変形性関節症と診断されセレコックス錠とロキソプロフェンテープを処方されました。
すでに指の第一関節はヘバーデン結節を患っていますが、これは痛みがないので良かったのですが変形性関節症は大変です。
自分が若い頃お年寄りはどうしてたびたび病院に行くのだろうと思っていましたが、今自分がそういう状況におかれて良く分かりました。
なるべく進行を遅らせていつまでもシャル君のお世話をしたいというのが私の願いです。

Last night I woke up because of the pain in my wrists and fingers.
I took a painkiller and wrapped it with plasters to cool down.
I went to my Orthopedic Doctor first thing in the morning to find out what the cause of the pain is.
The doctor diagnosed that some knuckles are worn out. And I realized meaning of “The pains of growing old”.

When I was younger, I wondered why the elderlies went to the doctors so often.
Now I understand the reasons because recently I am doing the same thing.
I will be taking medicines for weeks and will be sticking plaster when needed to alleviate my pains.

鞭の使い方

15日朝日の朝刊で、京都競馬場での発走委員の鞭の使い方が問題になっています。ゲートに入れるのに後ずさりする馬を執拗に鞭打ち、虐待とネットなどで批判されているそうです。
馬にとって鞭はとても怖いもので、使い方を誤るとパニックにおとしいれてしまいます。

人間がナイフや銃を向けられたのと同じ気持ちだと思うのです。
馬場では鞭を効果的に使う方法を学びますが、外乗ではほとんど鞭を持たずに乗ります。

もう少し競争馬たちの感情も考慮して欲しいものだと思います。

競走馬だったシャル君はそんな世界からは離れ、週4日の運動をする以外はほとんどの時間をのんびりすごしています。
日曜日は日中気温は13度まであがり、シャル君にとってはとても快適な日だったことと思います。
馬場のお隣では近所の農家の方が大根の収穫に大忙しです。

I read on the newspaper yesterday an article about a race horse.
This race horse is an excellent horse and is expected to win the race.
On the day just before the race begins, this horse was reluctant to enter the start gate(burrier),
So the staff hit him with the whip. The horse got angry and kicked him. The staff hit him more and more. The horse became so frantic. The jockey got off the horse and blindfolded him and took him to the gate.
The result was so miserable because the horse won’t be able to run any race for 2 months. This became big news as an example of animal abuse.

Our beloved Charle have retired from horse race world.
He exercises four times a week and the rest of the day he spends time feeling
relaxed.

春を感じとる

12日はレッスンがなかったので、放牧のみに行きました。この日は先生たちのご都合で3人お留守でした。そのため来られた会員さんも少なく、比較的しずかな日でした。
朝から気温が2月にしては高く、日中は15度くらいになりました。太陽がポカポカと照り、シャル君は放牧で汚れた体を日のあたる繋ぎ場で部分水洗いが出来ました。

１４日は予報で寒くなると聞いて身構えていきましたが、日差しがあり風もなく10度の気温にしては暖かく感じられる日でした。シャル君は早朝放牧で自主煉しました。そのあとパパとレッスンでした。
ちょっと熱を持っていて腫れぼったかった右前肢もほぼ良くなったみたいでした。
日本では2月4日の立春から5月5日の立夏の前日までが春とされています。
そのせいか陽射しが明るくなったような気がするのです。咲き始めた水仙や梅の花を見ると寒いさ中に春を感じ取れ、急に暖かくなるはずもない2月なのに、花咲く暖かい春の景色が頭をよぎります。

トラちゃんもクラブハウスの暖かい窓辺で春をまっています。

 

動物とともにあること

我が家のキャラちゃんは今年で孫のミックンと同じ10歳になります。でもお誕生日はわかりません。地域猫クロちゃんが引き連れてきたこどもだからです。クロちゃんはその後まもなくクルマにはねられ亡くなりました。
キャラちゃんの存在は私にとってはとても大きなものがあります。静かでおとなしくあまり手をやくことがない猫ですが、一緒にいることで与えてくれる楽しさははかりしれません。

先日聞いていたラジオによると、横須賀に新しいタイプの老人ホームがあるそうです。飼い猫や飼い犬と一緒に入居できるそうです。
そしてそのことによって入居者は生き生きと毎日の生活を送れ、飼い主が亡くなられた後はそこで引き取り生涯面倒を見ているということでした。
こんな施設がふえると、愛するペットと生涯をともにすることができておたがいに幸せです。

This year our cat turned 10 years old, same age as my grandchild. Her name is Calico. She is a gentle and quiet cat. She is also very sweet. She was brought by a stray black mommy cat to our garden.
The other day I was listening to the car radio and it was broadcasting about a nursing home in Yokosuka City. In this home they allow the elderlies to live in with their pets. This makes old people more lively and joyful.
This is a very unique and was in a trial period, but it became successful. After the owner passed away, the Nursing Home takes care of the pets and treat them as a member of the home.
I think this is a very good way to grow old because you don’t have to be apart from your beloved pets until you die.

穏やかな冬日

予報では晴れだったのに、雲の多い朝でした。
まだ湿り気の残った馬場でしたが、雨のためずっと見送っていたので、多少ドロンコになるのを覚悟で放牧しました。
とにかく元気で少し心配していた肢の不調はどこ吹く風といった感じでした。
先生に最初乗っていただいて、その後パパが乗りましたが最近はお互いに折り合いがついてきているように思えます。
それに後肢に力がついてきて、先生との横運動もしっかりできるようになりました。

シャル君は自分に自信ができたのか、私に対して自分を主張するようになったので気をつけなければいけないと思っています。

On Sunday morning, I let Charle roamed around the riding ground. It was still moist, but that is alright,for a week he could not move freely because of the wet ground.
I decided to let him free. The passing neighbor said that he looked very happy.
I was actually worried about his front lower leg because it felt feverished.
But inspite of my anxiety he performed good movements with the teacher during his lesson time.
Recently his hindlegs became very strong and I could see him kicking the ground with all his strength.
