ratchet up

"ratchets up" が分からないので記事を読みましたが、ゲームの事はさっぱり分からないせいか、記事を読んでも"ratchets up"の意味は分かりませんでしたので辞書を引きます。

そう言えば記事に次ぎの文がありました。

新しいゲームができ動きがスムーズになったので、つまりゲーム機の性能が一段向上したので "ratchets up" を使用したのですね。
