He agonizes over what to do next. Should he water more, or less? Should he prune, mulch, heel in, make cuttings? Should he limb the surrounding trees, clear some of the bramble away to provide more light?
上に出てきた "heel in" は農作業の一つだと思いますが何でしょう？

田植の作業と似ていますが、一般の米国人でもこの "heel in" の意味を知っているのでしょうか？
