The Mainichi Shimbun conducted a nationwide public opinion poll on March 18 and 19. The poll asked respondents whether they think the human rights of sexual minorities are protected in Japan in the wake of the ouster of former Prime Minister Masayoshi Arai for discriminatory remarks he made against LGBTQ and other sexual minorities and same-sex marriage.
