Today, Hills Grammar School students from Australia were welcomed to Seiko-ji for a zazen experience.
As it is the time of the year, we required the students to check their body temperature, disinfect their hands with alcohol, and wear masks before entering the main hall.
I think this was the first experience for everyone, but how was it?
Zazen is the form in which Buddha attained enlightenment, and the essentials of zazen are correct posture, breath control, and mind control.
Normally, zazen lasts 40 minutes, but today, due to time constraints, it lasted just over 20 minutes.
If you do the three essentials correctly in these 20 minutes, you will produce serotonin, a transmitter in the brain.
After zazen, the participants watched a video introducing Eiheiji Temple and the Seikouji Temple, which was filmed by a drone.
At the same time, we burned incense to the main deity, Shakyamuni Buddha, and prayed for the fulfillment of our heart's desire.
By the way, the important point of zazen, as stated in the Fugan zazen gi, is to simply sit. This means to let go of all thoughts.
After the zazen experience at Seiko-ji Temple, we will go sightseeing in the city, then stay overnight in Hiroshima City today, and return to Japan tomorrow.
I pray that they will return home with many wonderful memories.I hope to see you all again when the opportunity arises.
Sincerely yours
